SEMAGLUTIDE UPDATE:
You have probably seen all the news floating around talking about how compounding pharamacies are being forced to stop compounding Semaglutide (the weight loss drug) so I want to explain exactly what's happening.
Eli Lilly and Nova Nordisk, the two primary Rx companies that make and sell the brands OZEMPIC and WEYGOVI are suing compounding pharmacies forcing them to stop making compounded semaglutide.
To make a long story short, it's a money grab. THesee Rx companies are losing probably BILLIONS of dollars when people get Sema from a compounding pharmacy instead of getting their drug from a Dr.
We saw it first with Tirzepatide and now we're seeing it with Semaglutide.
As of April 22nd (I suppose we'll see for sure next week), the rule is, unless you have a medical necessity for compounded Semaglutide, the only option you'll have is Ozempic or Weygovi from a prescribing physician at $500/month.
During our last order, my NP saw that our compounding pharmacy added a new disclaimer in their checkout screen.
It reads" The compounded medication's listed are made at the request of the prescribing practitioner whose signature appears above due the the MEDICAL NEED of a specific patientand the preparation is prescribed because the prescriber has determined that the preparation will produce a clinically significant therapeutic response compared to a commercially available product"
This means they're placing the liability onto the provider to PROVE that they have a medical necessity for the drug because they're allergic to an ingredient in the Rx version or they can show with proof, that they need it. This puts the prescribing dr's at a HUGE risk. Compounded pharmacies are already being sued and they WILL go after Prescribing Physicians and Businesses next.
We can no longer prescribe sema for just anyone. People with hashimoto's using it to put their autoimmune into remission, people using it for managing alcohol addiction, people using it for alzheimer's and dementia. And yes, if you were unaware of ALL The benefits of Semaglutide, they FAR outweight any of the dangerous side effects which is why SO MANY PEOPLE are using it! IT's not just for weight loss, and frankly, a lot of people use it in small doses for other health reasons and don't lose weight.
So the rule is, if you want Semaglutide, you must go to your prescirbing physician and the ONLY way you could get the compounded version would be if you are Type 2 diabetic or have a BMI higher than 30. You will also ONLY be able to get the Pharmaceutical version and here's my problem with that.
1. They have a 90 day shelf life which means it can sit on your counter for 90 days and not go bad. . . . . Because they have PRESERVATIVES
2. If they have preservatives, you need to research the side effects of injecting such preservative and some of those can be extremely unpleasant (hence all the negative side effects of Ozempic that we don't see with the compounded version).
3. The dose is WAY too high. We start our clients at 2.5units or 5 units if they're over 150lbs and the max dose is 40 units. Ozempic's max dose is 200!!! No wonder everyone feels like s**t!
4. You cannot microdose for symtoms like inflammation in the brain, hashimotos, etc.
It seriously breaks my heart that this won't be available for just anyone anymore.
I know some of you are on the fence and don't quite understand peptides, but I promise you, they have such a profund POSITIVE effect on our health that the Rx companies just want to get their hands on all the money.
Also, If you're a client of mine and you're on Semaglutide, we're putting in our last orders wtih Strive this weekend.
Now! As you KNOW, I will STILL Offer straight semaglutide as part of the Institutional Research Bureau. This is to gain data for clinical human trials so we can show all the positive benefits of STRAIGHT semaglutide (a 30 amino acid peptide chain) without preservatives. The only caviat is that it's a 4 month protocol and has to be purchased all up front. I charge $1400.
So needless to say, it will still be available for you, but I don't like switching people from one formulation to another.
