Imagine, A Center for Coping with Loss Transforming Grief and Loss into Resilience, Empathy and Compassion We provide free peer grief support year-round for as long as is needed.

Imagine, A Center for Coping with Loss, is a grief support center for children, young adults and families dealing with the death or life-altering illness of a parent, sibling or child. We also provide training and education to over 2000 individuals annually through Imagine University™ at school districts, houses of worship, agencies, corporations, and other organizations throughout the United States. Finally, we provide onsite support at your school, business, or community location after any trauma or loss. Our goal is to create communities where grief and loss are transformed into resilience, empathy and compassion; and create communities where no child grieves alone. Imagine is completely privately funded through the generous contributions of our donors, and our work is only made possible through their support. If you are a family in need of support please contact [email protected] to schedule an orientation.

⛳💙 A Day on the Green, A Legacy of Love!

What an incredible day at the Schambach Strong Golf Outing benefiting Imagine!

This special event honors the life and legacy of Mike Schambach, beloved late husband of Imagine's Executive Director, Lindsay Schambach. Through this outing, Mike's memory continues to inspire generosity, connection, and a commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Schambach family, event organizers, sponsors, golfers, volunteers, and everyone who came together to make this meaningful day possible!

What a beautiful reminder that love doesn't end with loss. Through the generosity of this community, Mike's legacy continues to make an impact, helping Imagine provide free grief support to children, teens, and families.

Thank you for turning remembrance into action and helping ensure that no child ever has to grieve alone. đź’™

Grief looks different for every child, and there is no single way to navigate the emotions that come with loss. Children’s Grief Awareness Day reminds us of the importance of supporting children through grief and providing support and understanding.

Childhood grief is more common than people realize, with 1 in 13 children in the State of NJ experiencing the death of an immediate family member before 18. This grief often goes unseen, leaving children to navigate overwhelming emotions with little support.

The blue butterfly serves as a symbol of hope: a reminder that by spreading awareness and showing compassion, we can ensure every grieving child gets the care and support they deserve.

đź’ś Imagine Us: Meet Veronica Ortiz!

At Imagine, our work is rooted in compassion, connection, and the belief that no one should grieve alone.

For Veronica Ortiz, Imagine’s Training and Education Director, that work is what she calls “heart work.” ❤️

“Every story that is shared holds a special place in my heart. Although it may feel heavy at times, there’s also so much love that is felt through each story.”

Inspired by the children and families we serve, Veronica is passionate about building grief-informed communities where every child who is grieving feels seen, heard, and supported.

Through education and training, she helps equip teachers, counselors, neighbors, and community members with the tools to walk alongside those who are grieving.

“I love the idea that wherever someone who is grieving turns, there will be a grief-informed teacher, counselor, neighbor or friend who can provide the support they need.”

✨ Imagine a world where no one grieves alone. That's the future Veronica is helping us build, one community at a time.

🎉✨ BIG NEWS FROM IMAGINE NEWARK!

More space. More support. More opportunities for connection.

We’re excited to announce that Imagine’s Newark Center has expanded from 4,000 to over 10,000 square feet! This growth allows us to welcome more children, teens, and families who are grieving into a safe, supportive space where they can connect, express their emotions, and find hope.

Our expanded center features welcoming support group rooms, creative play spaces, and a family gathering area. Coming soon are two specialized therapeutic play rooms designed to help children process grief in ways that words sometimes cannot.

But our growth doesn't stop at our doors! Through our “Go to the Grieving” initiative, we're bringing grief support directly into Newark schools and community organizations, helping remove barriers for families who need us most.

🌟 None of this would be possible without our incredible supporters! Special thanks to The Healthcare Foundation of New Jersey, The Hyde and Watson Foundation, The Celia Lipton Farris & Victor W. Farris Foundation, and our Circle of Hope donors for investing in our mission.

Because no child should have to grieve alone.

Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day is a time to honor the babies that were born and died too soon, remember the pregnancies that ended too quickly, and stand with every family who has experienced this loss.

No two pregnancy or infant loss experiences look the same. Every journey is different, and every rainbow represents a different story of loss.

To any parent who has experienced pregnancy and infant loss, we see you, support you, and hold space for your grief today and every day.
