Beginning January 1, 2027, new Medicaid work and community engagement requirements may affect some patients' eligibility for health coverage.
Under the new law, certain Medicaid members ages 19–64 may be required to complete at least 80 hours of approved activities each month. These activities may include working, attending school, volunteering or participating in community service. Some individuals, including those with young children or certain medical conditions, may qualify for exemptions.
To assist in the transition, make sure your state Medicaid agency has your current address, phone number and email address. Pay close attention to any notices regarding your coverage and respond promptly to avoid potential interruptions in benefits.
DePaul is committed to helping patients understand these changes and maintain access to quality care.
