Postpartum, exhausted, weird new symptoms, and everyone keeps saying you’re fine.

I’ve seen so many women in this spot. They can’t figure out what they’re doing wrong to get their energy back. Their doctors say everything looks normal.

Something most new moms never hear: the risk of developing an autoimmune disease is highest in the first few years after having a baby.

An AARDA study found it takes an average of 4.6 years and 4.8 doctors to diagnose a serious autoimmune disease. Plenty of postpartum changes turn out to be nothing serious. You still deserve to be heard.

Being a tired mom of two doesn’t explain everything you’re feeling.

I help you line up your symptoms and your history so your next doctor visit gets further, and you get to answers sooner.

Up at night to p*e. Hips and shoulders aching. And the answer you got was “that’s normal for your age.”

A patient came in for hip pain. Once we started talking there was more. Shoulder pain, a bit of knee pain, waking up at night to use the bathroom. She’d told her doctor and heard it was just her age, being an ex-athlete and having two kids. So she wrote it off.

When we looked at it all together, the pieces started to fit. She left with a plan.

In a Mayo Clinic survey of 177 medical residents, only 12 (6.8%) said they felt adequately prepared to care for women going through menopause.

You deserve someone who will hear your whole story and help you put it together.

Comment 'QUIZ' below and I’ll send you a short quiz to see if your symptoms might be connected.

Three things that can help you get to root cause answers a little faster.

Be objective when you report your symptoms. Get organized and put them on a timeline, so your provider can see when each one started.
Take the emotion out of it. That’s an unfortunate reality, but it helps providers hear the facts.
Come with questions that help you understand your next steps.

Full transparency: these are all things we can do as patients. Some doctors still won’t hear us differently. But we can stand in our greatest amount of power as we advocate for the best care possible.

If you haven’t found root cause answers yet, you are not doing something wrong. The system was not built for us, so we use every advantage we have.

Step one starts this week. Make an organized list of your symptoms.

Stop blaming yourself for not doing enough Kegels or hip strengthening.

If your pelvic floor symptoms got better and then came back, you didn’t fail. The root cause may never have been found.

Sometimes part of the picture sits a long way from your pelvis. Your feet meet the ground with every step you take. How they move can change how your knees, hips and pelvis share the load. That’s why I look at your feet when you come to me for pelvic floor symptoms.

You won’t hear me promise one fix for every woman. We’re all made different, and we’ve all lived different lives. Your care should fit you.

Five specialists. Five sets of notes. But is anyone seeing the whole picture?

When you’re navigating multiple health concerns, it’s easy for pieces of your story to get lost along the way.

You share certain symptoms with one specialist and different details with another. You leave out what you think isn’t relevant. You walk out of an appointment remembering everything you forgot to mention.

And no one has the complete picture.

One national survey of 4,720 physicians found that while 69.3% of primary care physicians reported usually sending patient histories to specialists, only 34.8% of specialists reported usually receiving them.

That communication gap matters.

One step you can take is to organize your medical history, symptoms, and previous evaluations in one place. This can help you communicate more clearly with your healthcare providers and support more informed conversations about your care.

You deserve to have your whole story heard.

Make yourself the one place where your whole story lives.

All you have to do is blend everything together in a food processor and roll the mixture into 12–16 snack balls! You’ll get a delicious mix of fiber, protein, healthy fats, and plenty of anti-inflammatory nutrients.

P.S. These are also a great option for those of you who struggle with constipation!

One of the easiest ways to increase core activation during an upper body workout is to work one arm at a time and use a staggered stance position.

Your core activates before you take a step or reach for anything. Once you get the hang of it, everything is a core exercise!

Learning how your body’s default pattern works is the key to optimizing every part of your day to support core recovery—whether you are postpartum, post-abdominal surgery, or just never had a core!

We’ve looked at the musculoskeletal system.
We’ve looked at the nervous system.
We’ve looked at the organ system.

Now, there’s a fourth layer: vascularity.

When I look at the body as a whole, I’m also thinking about how fluid moves through the system, how the body gets toxins out, and how nerves are able to glide, move, and transmit messages.

These pieces don’t operate independently.

They are all part of the larger system that makes you, you.

This is why I believe understanding the connections within the body matters when we’re trying to understand pain and dysfunction.

There’s more to your symptoms than the place where you feel them.

Big picture approach = moving beyond symptoms!

The US medical system makes more money treating you like a bag of parts instead of a whole human.

We deserve better!

Your pelvic floor symptoms may not be coming from your pelvic floor.
Because this area is connected to everything.
• Your breath.
• Your posture.
• Your movement patterns.

So if those aren’t working well:
• Pressure isn’t managed properly
• Muscles don’t coordinate well
• The pelvic floor takes on more than it should

That’s when symptoms show up.
• Leaks.
• Pain.
• Heaviness.
Not as isolated problems. But as part of a bigger system.

That’s why focusing on one area often isn’t enough.
