🦃 Did you know that some turkeys can fly up to 55 miles per hour? Or that most turkeys have between 10,000-15,000 feathers?
Thanksgiving is coming up so what better time for a visit from our friend Mr. Mike Morton and his turkey Lucky, who came to Allegany Day Services? Lucky met our day program participants for some friendly petting and lots of gobbles and while Mike supplied some Turkey Trivia.
Mike has 16 turkeys at Sun-Dance Kids Farm, including this six-month-old Royal Palm Turkey, Lucky, and told us his family will enjoy a pizza instead on Thanksgiving day! Thank you for an always-educational and inclusive fun time with your animals! 💜

To celebrate National Disabilities Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) this October, we are highlighting the amazing contributions people with disabilities can make in the workplace.

👋 Meet Cruise! Cruise works at Allegany State Park as a cleaner. 🏞️ 🧼

His success through Intandem’s Supported Employment Services shows the impact that inclusion can have in workplaces throughout Western New York.

Over the past week, we had the pleasure of welcoming Occupational Therapy students from St. Bonaventure University to Intandem's Allegany Day Services!
As part of their fieldwork experience, the students began in the classroom, learning how to plan and lead meaningful activities designed for individuals with developmental disabilities. They then had the opportunity to meet and get to know several of the people we support before putting their lessons into action by leading activities themselves!
If there were any nerves at the start of the week, by the end, those nerves turned into confidence, connections, laughter, and smiles all around!
Experiences like these are about so much more than classroom learning: they build relationships, break down barriers, and help us discovering that sometimes the best lessons come from simply spending time together.
Thank you to the students and faculty at St. Bonaventure University for spending the week with us! We hope you learned as much from the people we support as they enjoyed learning from you!

🗳️YOUR VOICE. YOUR VOTE. YOUR RIGHT!🗳️

The Intandem Self-Advocacy Group recently gathered to discuss an important topic — the right to vote! ✅

During their meeting, members shared their personal reasons for voting and why having a voice in decisions that affect their lives matters to them.

From making their voices heard to helping shape the future of their communities, everyone had their own meaningful reason for heading to the polls!

At Intandem, we believe self-advocacy is about knowing your rights, making your own choices, and having your voice heard.
