Wingspan Life Resources is a nonprofit organization serving adults and youth with developmental disabilities

Wingspan Life Resources is seeking warm and caring Direct Support Professionals (DSP) for Part Time, Full Time, and On Call shifts providing services to people with developmental and other disabilities in our group homes in Minneapolis, Saint Paul and the surrounding metro area. Experience is not required and paid training is provided.

Our annual Pumpkin Decorating Contest was a smashing success this year, with a record number of submissions! Our participants really outdid themselves!

After some tough decisions, we're excited to announce our 2026 winners!

In our first class, individuals supported by Wingspan selected cardboard platforms and transformed them into meaningful miniature scenes using fabric, wood, and other materials. Each participant created a setting that represented a special place, favorite activity, or cherished memory.

The creativity and attention to detail on display were truly inspiring. At the end of class, participants proudly shared their creations and the stories behind them.

For example, Asha created a swimming pool complete with lanes and a bench to represent her passion for swimming in Special Olympics. Jack designed a miniature radio reflecting his love of music, especially playing Name That Tune and singing in Wingspan's Glee Club.

There are only a few days left to find your perfect holiday arrangements while raising money for Wingspan!

Just visit www.gertensfundraising.com and enter code 780 to access Wingspan's fundraising site. The site will close next Monday, October 26th, at 10PM. Your order will be ready for pick up on November 17 from 10AM to 4PM at 30 East Plato Blvd, St Paul, MN.

Wingspan will receive 30% of all plant sales and 15% of all plant card sales, with all proceeds going toward repairs and accessibility needs at our 37 group homes, as well as yard beautification efforts; supplying the gloves, tools, mulch and flowers that allow volunteers to brighten the season for our persons-served! Deck the halls while fundraising with Gertens and Wingspan today!

Members Kaylla and Timmy were inspired to dance during last nights rehearsal!

Our concert is shaping up nicely. We revisited terms like "a capella" and learned a new music term, "secondary note."

Save Sunday, November 22 at 2pm at Incarnation Lutheran Church for our "A Spoonful of Silly and Sweet " concert.

Some Wingspan residents recently stopped by the office to choose their pumpkins and get to work on entries for our annual Pumpkin Decorating Contest.

Paint, fun accessories, big ideas and plenty of personality quickly turned a table full of pumpkins into a very colorful field of contenders.

Our first Art is a Language class with COMPAS Teaching Artist Evie DiGirolamo covered a lot of creative ground!

We started by getting acquainted through paired back-and-forth drumming, which then turned into a spontaneous dance moment.

Then it was time to paint. Using tempera paint sticks, some participants chose an emotion and let it guide an abstract piece. Others experimented by pushing a rock across the page with their paint sticks to see what kinds of marks and patterns appeared.

Lori from our Thomas home took her painting in a wonderfully spooky direction, creating a scene about a bad ghost who steals pumpkins!

We ended the morning by choosing words to act out and say with different emotions. The same word could become serious, suspicious, excited, or completely ridiculous depending on the delivery, and it didn’t take long for the exercise to have the whole class laughing.

Evie brought such a playful, welcoming spirit to our first class. We have four more classes with her ahead, and after this introduction, we’re very curious to see where they take us next.

We were honored to be chosen by 5 credit union branches as service partners for this year’s CU Kind Day! These amazing teams spent Monday morning beautifying the yards at 6 Wingspan group homes.

These teams worked with dedication to service and kindness in their hearts, and empowered people impacted by disabilities to enjoy bright and clean outdoor spaces this fall.
