A few reminders to help you feel more at ease around Halloween candy:

🍬 Eat your normal meals. No skipping to “save up” for candy.
🍬 Prioritize protein, fat, and fiber at dinner before the candy.
🍬 Enjoy your favorites, guilt free.
🍬 Remember that candy will still be there tomorrow. You don’t have to eat it all tonight!
🍬 A few pieces of candy won’t ruin your health.
🍬 No compensating needed tomorrow. No extra workout, no skipped meals.

The goal isn’t to never eat candy. It’s to enjoy it without guilt, shame, or feeling like you’ve lost control.

Permission to enjoy is a BIG part of feeling in control, because we know restriction tends to backfire.🤍

Happy Halloween! Save this for later and share it with someone who needs the reminder.🎃✨

Diet culture has taught so many of us to question our hunger, feel guilty for eating more, and believe that less food is always better.

But going back for seconds, wanting dessert after dinner, or needing a snack sooner than expected doesn’t mean you’re doing anything wrong.

Your hunger can change from day to day. You might need more food because you’re more active, didn’t eat enough earlier, or simply because your body needs more nourishment that day.👏🏼

And if you’ve been under-eating or restricting food, eating more afterward isn’t a lack of willpower. It’s a normal response to not getting enough food.

Some common reasons overeating happens.⬇️

🤍 Under eating: Skipping meals or eating too little can leave you physically ravenous later.
🤍 Restricting foods: Labeling foods as “bad” or off-limits can make them more mentally consuming.
🤍 Compensating for food: Eating less or exercising to make up for what you’ve eaten can perpetuate a restrict-overeat cycle.
🤍 Emotional eating: Food can be a source of comfort, but if you find yourself habitually turning to food to cope with stress, boredom, or difficult emotions, it may help to build other coping skills, too.
🤍 Mindless eating: Eating while working, scrolling, or rushing through your day can make it harder to notice your body’s hunger, fullness, and satisfaction cues.

Instead of shaming yourself for eating more than you intended, what if you got curious about WHY it’s happening?

Because the answer isn’t always more willpower, more discipline, or trying harder to eat less.
Sometimes, your body or mind is trying to tell you something.

Cook ground beef in 1 tbsp olive oil, then add 1 can low sodium crushed tomatoes, 1 can rinsed low sodium black beans, 1 tsp paprika, ½ tsp mild chili powder, ½ tsp cumin, and ½ tsp garlic powder.
