What does ketamine-assisted EMDR actually do?

In simple terms, it combines the trauma-processing structure of EMDR with ketamine-assisted support to help some people approach difficult memories, beliefs, and emotional patterns with less overwhelm.

For someone who tends to shut down, dissociate, become highly activated, or hit the same internal wall in therapy, KA-EMDR may create more space to access and process what is underneath.

The goal is not to erase the memory.

It is to help reduce the emotional charge around it, loosen rigid patterns, and support a different relationship to what happened.

Ketamine does not “do the healing” for you.

The therapeutic work is in how the experience is prepared for, processed, and integrated.

If you feel like you understand your patterns but still cannot seem to move through them, KA-EMDR may be worth exploring.

Curious about shamanism, but not sure where to begin?

On November 7 & 8, I’ll be teaching a Shamanic Journey course designed to introduce you to the foundations of journeying in a grounded, experiential way.

We’ll explore practices like:

- Setting intention before a journey
- Working with drumming and rhythm
- Understanding the Upper, Lower, and Middle Worlds
- Learning through direct experience instead of only theory
- Bringing what you discover back into your everyday life

Shamanic journeying is not about escaping reality.

It is about becoming more receptive to the parts of yourself, your inner world, and your spiritual life that can get drowned out by the noise of everyday life.

If you have felt curious about shamanic practice, spiritual connection, or learning how to journey for yourself, this is a place to begin.

Join me November 7 & 8.

Before you spiral, relocate.

Not because changing rooms magically fixes what you’re feeling.

But because your environment is constantly giving your nervous system information.

If you’ve been sitting in the same place replaying the same thought, feeling the same tension, and staring at the same four walls, your body may need something different before your mind can access something different.

Step outside.

Walk around the block.

Sit somewhere quieter.

Find trees, sunlight, fresh air, or simply a different room.

Changing your physical space can interrupt the loop long enough for you to notice what is actually happening inside you.

That is not avoidance.

Sometimes it is regulation.

You are giving your system new sensory information and creating enough space to respond instead of react.

You cannot always think your way into a different state.

Sometimes you have to move first.

If your nervous system feels stuck in the same patterns, explore somatic therapy at bodymindwholeness.com.

What if EMDR could help you access difficult material with a little more space between you and the overwhelm?

KA-EMDR combines ketamine-assisted therapy with EMDR to support deeper trauma processing in a carefully guided setting.

For some people, traditional trauma work can bring them to an internal wall.

They understand the pattern.
They know where it came from.
But when they try to process it, their system becomes overwhelmed, numb, or shut down.

KA-EMDR is designed to create a different therapeutic window... one where difficult memories, beliefs, and emotions may become more approachable while EMDR helps support processing and integration.

The goal is not to force a breakthrough.

It is to create the conditions where deeper work may become possible.

If you feel like you have done a lot of inner work but are still stuck in the same patterns, KA-EMDR may be worth exploring.

I spend a lot of time talking about how to help others heal.

But before I could guide anyone else, I had to confront my own wounds.

My path into this work was not purely academic or professional. It was deeply personal.

Healing my childhood trauma forced me to look at the parts of myself I had learned to protect, suppress, disconnect from, and carry silently for years.

That process changed the way I understood trauma.

It changed the way I understood the body.

And ultimately, it changed the way I understood healing itself.

My journey eventually led me deeper into shamanic practice and toward becoming someone who could hold space for others as they explored their own pain, patterns, and path back to wholeness.

I do not guide people from a place of having never struggled.

I guide from a place of knowing what it means to go into the darkness, meet what is there, and come back with a deeper relationship to yourself.

Sometimes the healer you become is born from the healing you were once forced to seek.

Some things make more sense when you experience them for yourself.

That is the heart of shamanic journeying.

On November 7 & 8, I’ll be guiding a Shamanic Journey course for anyone who feels curious about exploring consciousness, intuition, helping spirits, and the inner landscapes that can open through intentional journey work.

This is not about memorizing spiritual concepts.

It is about learning how to journey.

How to set an intention.
How to work with rhythm and drumming.
How to navigate the journey space.
How to recognize what arises.
How to return with something meaningful.

You do not need years of experience.

You just need curiosity, openness, and a willingness to explore.

If you have felt drawn to shamanic practice but have not known where to begin, this course was created as a doorway in.

Join me November 7 & 8.

A phenomenon read through three languages — somatic psychology, depth psychology, and shamanic practice

Ritual still matters because some moments in life need more than an explanation.

Grief.
Loss.
A major transition.
The end of a relationship.
A shift in identity.
The feeling that one chapter of your life is over, but the next has not fully begun.

Ritual gives those experiences shape.

In shamanic healing, ritual can create space to slow down, set intention, acknowledge what has been carried, and consciously mark what you are ready to release or step into.

It is not about pretending pain is gone.

It is about meeting that pain with presence, meaning, and intention.

Sometimes the nervous system, psyche, and spirit need a moment that says:

Something has changed. I am ready to move differently now.

Healing does not always fit neatly into one category.

Sometimes the work is therapeutic.

Sometimes it is somatic.

Sometimes it is spiritual.

And sometimes you need all three.

At Body Mind Wholeness, shamanic healing can exist alongside modalities like somatic therapy, EMDR, NeuroAffective Touch, therapeutic intensives, and ketamine-assisted therapy.

Because some experiences live in the nervous system.

Some live in memory.

Some live in the beliefs and patterns you have carried for years.

And some people feel called to explore healing through ritual, spirituality, meaning, and deeper connection to self.

The goal is not to force one path.

It is to meet you where you are and work with the parts of you asking to be seen.

Healing can be clinical without losing soul.

And it can be spiritual without losing grounding.
