Join us in welcoming Gabriella to the Fuqua Advanced Dental team! Gabriella is our new Project Specialist/Dental Assistant in Training. She earned an associate degree through a high school dual credit program before attending nursing school, but quickly decided it was not the right career path for her. She plans to eventually go back to school to pursue higher education and is excited to explore the world of dentistry and learn how to give patients exceptional care. And we're excited to have Gabriella on our team!

We're so proud of Dr. Tonya and the work she does with Save a Smile, a nonprofit program led by Cook Children's that provides preventive and restorative dental care for children from low-income families. As program director, she manages a network of volunteer dentists who provide free exams and dental care for children in our community. In this beautiful story she volunteered her own services to provide life-changing care to three sweet sisters who had been living with severe dental pain.

Story by Eline Wiggins. Video by Tom Riehm.Three little girls’ lives were changed when Save a Smile provided more than $11,000 in dental care to restore their smiles. Britani, Skarli and Ashley Ortiz were in so much pain from dental decay that they frequently went to the nurse’s office at school...

We are so proud of Dr Tonya and her work leading Cook Children’s Save a Smile program. Making a difference in the lives of children!

Almost one out of every five county residents lacks health insurance. But thousands more lack dental insurance. Without it, paying for care is almost impossible.

As we honor our veterans today, we are proud to share that Dr. Tonya was recently recognized Veteran of the Year by the Fort Worth District Dental Society. Early in her career, she served four years as an active-duty dental officer with the United States Air Force from 1995-1999. Stationed at Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio, she provided dental clearances and dental work for soldiers in all branches of the military. She also served as Preventative Dentistry Office and Manpower Disaster Team chief, leading a group of airmen from the dental clinic to prepare and serve during a peace or wartime disaster. Dr. Fuqua achieved the rank of Major before moving into private practice. Congratulations on this tremendous honor Dr. Fuqua. And thanks to all of the men and women who selflessly serve our country!
