Please don’t mistake how many times you’ve started over for how little strength you have.
I look at these before pictures and see a woman who kept trying, even when she was embarrassed to tell anyone she was trying again.
Because saying “I’m going to lose the weight” feels different when you’ve said it so many times before.
You start expecting people to doubt you.
Eventually, you doubt yourself.
And still, some small part of you whispers, “Please. One more time.”
That isn’t weakness. That takes courage.
“I can’t give up. I’m someone’s mom.”
My kids were never waiting for a smaller mom. I was already worthy of being in every picture with them.
But I wanted to be in those pictures without spending the whole time wondering how to hide myself. I wanted more energy for the life we were living.
And I wanted them to see that struggling with something for years doesn’t mean you have to stop believing you can change.
Losing 115 pounds took me three years. Learning to stop tearing myself apart was part of that process.
I could take responsibility without calling myself disgusting. I could have a hard day without deciding I was hopeless.
If you’re trying again, you don’t owe anyone an apology for that.
You’re allowed to want more for yourself, even if you’ve wanted it a hundred times before. 💛
