A LITTLE KINDNESS GOES A LONG WAY THIS HALLOWEEN
Halloween is supposed to be a night of fun, laughter, excitement and making memories…
…But amongst all the costumes, trick-or-treating and celebrations, I want everyone to remember something important.
Not every child experiences Halloween the same way.
Some children may be shy and struggle to knock on a door or speak to someone they don’t know.
Some may have sensory sensitivities and find the noise, crowds, costumes or bright lights overwhelming.
Some children may communicate differently, take a little longer to respond, or not say the words “trick or treat” at all.
And that’s okay. ❤️
Please don’t mistake a quiet child for a rude one.
Don’t mistake a child who doesn’t speak for a child who isn’t excited…And never make a child feel uncomfortable, embarrassed or different because they don’t behave the way you expect them to.
Some children might need a little extra patience.
Some might need a smile, a gentle welcome, a little extra time or simply the opportunity to participate in their own way.
And some children might just stand back and watch, and that’s okay too.
Every child deserves the magic of Halloween.
Let’s teach our children that kindness doesn’t come with conditions, that inclusion means making room for everyone, and that being different is never something to be ashamed of.
A little patience, understanding and compassion can turn what might be an overwhelming night for one child into a beautiful memory they’ll carry with them.
Let’s celebrate ALL children.
The loud ones, the quiet ones, the shy ones, the brave ones, the sensitive ones and those who experience the world a little differently.
Because at the end of the day, they’re all just children wanting to feel accepted, included and loved.
Different doesn’t mean less.
Quiet doesn’t mean rude…And every child deserves kindness.
Let’s make this Halloween a little less about what children say, how they act or how they participate, and a whole lot more about how we make them feel.
🎃 BE KIND. BE PATIENT. BE INCLUSIVE. 🎃
