POV: It’s a Monday morning and you’re kneading dough with a horse at your kitchen window. You’ve made it. 🐴🥹😂
Today’s kitchen creation: homemade cheesy Vegemite scrolls! A firm favourite around here, with 19 made for the freezer and snacks sorted for the week. 💛
I’m a big believer that making things from scratch doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive. With a little planning, it can often be cheaper than buying pre-packaged snacks, too!
And the best part? Activities like this are about so much more than baking.
Following a recipe, measuring ingredients, mixing, making choices and preparing food for the week are all wonderful opportunities to build everyday skills, confidence and independence.
And it doesn’t have to be perfect or look the same for everyone. Pre-made dough, visual instructions, adapted utensils or a helping hand can make the kitchen accessible to more people.
It’s about finding ways for everyone to participate, have a go and enjoy the end result. (Taste-testing is a very important role, obviously. 🤣)
19 scrolls, one very invested horse and a productive Monday morning. Billy approves. 🐴💛
