Caring for your bump, while growing our own 🤍

When we took this photo, Olivia and Bridget were both expecting. Since then, Bridget has welcomed her little one and is on maternity leave, soaking up these special early weeks with her family. Olivia is still expecting, and you'll see her around the MAMA clinic with the families she's currently supporting.

There’s something special about caring for families while going through pregnancy ourselves. Whether you’re just starting out or counting down the days, we’re right beside you. That’s what having your own midwife, with a whole team behind her looks like. Please join us in sending lots of love to Bridget’s family as they settle in, and wishing Olivia all the best for the weeks ahead 🤍✨

There are a lot of assumptions about private midwifery, so we thought we’d share what care with MAMA actually looks like.

At MAMA, you have your own midwife who gets to know you and your story, with an established team behind her that you’ll also meet along the way. We support families planning a hospital birth or a homebirth, and your midwife works alongside your GP, obstetrician or hospital team if extra support is needed.

Your care doesn’t stop when your baby arrives, either. Your midwife continues to support you into the early weeks, with home visits and help with feeding, recovery and settling in as a family.

Swipe through for six common myths, and how the team at MAMA work to support you 🤍✨

We asked some of our MAMA team a simple question: if you had to describe MAMA in one word, what would it be?

Every answer was different, and we love that! MAMA means something a little different to everyone, but at its heart, it’s the same thing: you choose your own midwife who supports your decisions, with an experienced team of midwives behind her.

That care continues from pregnancy through birth, whether you’re planning a home or hospital birth, and into the early weeks with your baby.

If that sounds like the care you’re looking for, you’re welcome to book a bulk-billed chat with one of our midwives🤍✨

Every birth is different, this is one mama’s story 🤍✨

Birth plans changed. A long stay in hospital followed. And then, her son arrived.
At MAMA, you have your own midwife throughout pregnancy, birth and the first six weeks. She knows your history, explains what is happening and what your options are, and supports you in the choices you make. If she can’t attend, a backup midwife you have already met takes her place.

Choosing between public and private midwifery care is one of the first big decisions in pregnancy, and it’s not always clear what the difference is.

Both options offer care through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. The main difference is who you’ll see along the way, and who’ll be with you when it matters most. With MAMA, you have your own midwife who knows you and your story, backed by a whole team, whether you’re planning to give birth in hospital or at home.

Have a look through the slides to compare what each option offers. If you’d like to talk through what might suit you, you’re welcome to book a bulk-billed chat with one of our midwives🤍

Last week, our midwives gathered to celebrate our dear colleague Bridget, who is going on maternity leave to welcome a new baby into the world!

We sat together and passed a length of red yarn around the circle, tying ourselves to one another, and each shared our best wishes and some words of wisdom as Bridget begins this new chapter in her life.

The care we give families is only as strong as the team behind it. When we look after one another, we can look after you. Your own midwife, with a whole team behind her. This is what that looks like.

At 1am, she woke with strong back pain and knew her labour had begun. With a hot water bottle, a TENS machine, an exercise ball and a lot of determination, she kept going, and her daughter was born in the birth pool at home. She told us it was the best day of her life.

Every birth is different, and most don't go exactly to plan. What matters is that you feel known and supported, whatever unfolds. At MAMA, you have your own midwife who knows you and your story, backed by an incredible team. Baby's here. Now what? 🤍

Your care doesn’t stop at birth. The weeks after deserve the same time and kindness as pregnancy and birth, and we’ll help you understand your options so you can make the choices that feel right for you.

As a MAMA client, your postnatal care continues for 6 weeks after birth, whether you gave birth at home or in hospital. This includes four home visits with your own midwife in the first week, as many clinic or telehealth appointments with your midwife as you need, and one birth debrief session to talk through your experience.

We also offer extra support outside of your midwifery care package, including further emotional support, feeding support, and allied health & wellbeing services.
