Why should the children have all the fun?

It’s Halloween weekend, and while the little ones are off in costumes collecting lollies, I’m wondering... shouldn’t the grown-ups get to play too?

I think we should!

This Saturday we’re having a InterPlay playgroup for adults. InterPlay is a gentle, creative way of listening to the wisdom of your body, through movement, voice and storytelling. No experience needed, and no costume required (though I won’t stop you).

If you’re ready for a break from the busyness and the endless to-do list, come and lighten up with us. A little laughter does wonders.

🎃 Saturday 31st October
🎃 1:30 – 3:30pm
🎃 Aldinga

Book here: https://events.humanitix.com/lightening-up

Bring a friend. Let’s play!

That tight chest before you've even opened your laptop. The racing thoughts at 2am about things that felt fine yesterday. The way your body says "danger" when nothing's actually wrong. 😮‍💨

Stress usually has an end point — the deadline passes, the school project gets handed in, life calms down. Anxiety doesn't wait for a reason. It can turn up on an ordinary Tuesday and just... stay.

A few signs it might be more than "just a stressful week":
🔸 Your mind won't switch off, even when your body's exhausted
🔸 You're bracing for something bad, without knowing what
🔸 Physical symptoms — racing heart, tight chest, upset stomach — with no clear cause
🔸 You've started avoiding things that never used to bother you

None of that means something's wrong with you. It means your nervous system needs support, not willpower.

A free 15-minute chat is a low-pressure way to talk it through and see what could help.

Nobody asked the family calendar to live in your head. Or the birthday presents. Or the "do we have enough pasta" check. Or remembering that Tuesday is library bag day. Somehow it just... ended up there.

It's not that anyone can't help — it's that you're the one who has to remember what needs doing, delegate it, and check it got done. That invisible management is exhausting in a way that's hard to explain to someone who's never carried it.

If you read that and felt a little seen (or a little tired just thinking about it) — you're not being dramatic. This is real, and it's a genuine contributor to burnout in women who are "coping fine" on the outside.

Local mums, genuinely — what's the mental load item that's currently taking up the most space in your head?

👇 No judgment, just solidarity.

However you're going, support is closer than it feels. A free 15-minute chat is a good, low-pressure place to start.

Somewhere along the way, a lot of us learned that being "good" meant being available. Available for the favour, the extra shift, the group chat drama, the family expectation — even when we had nothing left to give. 💛

Here's the thing about boundaries: they're not walls. They're not you being difficult, selfish, or "too much." A boundary is just information — this is what I can hold right now, and this is what I can't.

If saying no makes your stomach drop, if you rehearse your excuses before you've even said them, if you say yes and then quietly resent it for days — that's not a character flaw. That's a pattern, and patterns can change.

I help women rebuild boundaries that actually hold, without the guilt spiral that usually follows. It's a bigger piece of the puzzle than most people expect.

Somewhere along the way, "mum" started meaning "last on the list." 💛

I know what exhaustion feels like — the kind that doesn't go away with a good night's sleep or a day off, because it's not really about sleep. It's about giving, giving, giving without anyone checking in on the person doing the giving.

This is your permission slip: prioritising yourself isn't selfish. Setting a boundary isn't letting anyone down. Asking for help isn't failure.

I help women move from heaviness back to clarity — and honestly, back to feeling like themselves again. If that sounds like something you need, let's talk.

To the mum scrolling this at 11pm because it's the only quiet moment you've had all day — I see you. 🌙

Burnout doesn't always look like collapsing on the couch. Sometimes it looks like still doing everything, just numb while you do it. Sometimes it looks like snapping and then feeling guilty. Sometimes it looks like forgetting what you even enjoy anymore, because there hasn't been room for it.

Local mums, I'd love to know — genuinely, no judgment in the comments — what does burnout look like for you? 👇

However you answered, know this: support exists close to home, and it doesn't have to be a big, complicated first step. A free 15-minute chat is a good place to start.

A question I get asked: "Where exactly are you based?" 🌿

Welcome to Wellness is set a little away from the hustle and bustle of Aldinga. For a lot of the women I work with, that matters. Not everyone wants to be seen walking into a counsellor's office between the school run and the supermarket. Some just want somewhere quiet to actually breathe.

So the space is private. Peaceful. No one clocking who's coming and going. Just you, a cup of tea, and an hour that's entirely yours.

If you've been putting off getting support because you didn't want it to feel like a big, public thing — this might be exactly the fit you're looking for.

One phrase on my vision board this year simply says...

“Slow Down.”

Not stop.
Not quit.
Not disappear from life.

Just… slow down.

To breathe more deeply.
To notice more.
To listen more carefully.
To feel less rushed through my own life.

What I hear often in counselling is:
“We’re exhausted.”
“We’re constantly busy.”
“We don’t even know the last time we relaxed.”

Modern life moves fast.
Relationships struggle when there’s never space to reconnect.

Sometimes slowing down isn’t laziness.
Sometimes it’s exactly what healing requires.

I often sit with couples carrying invisible weight.

The weight of responsibility.
The mental load.
The pressure to hold everything together.

And underneath it all is usually one simple longing:

“To feel connected again.”

When couples begin slowing down enough to truly hear one another, things can soften.

Not instantly.
Not perfectly.

But gradually.

And that shift can be incredibly powerful.
