Some of the most meaningful language-learning opportunities happen during everyday moments like playing together, sharing a book, preparing a meal, getting dressed or simply chatting about the day.
It’s not always about sitting down and practising words. It’s about creating opportunities for communication through connection, curiosity and shared experiences.
A few simple ways to support language development throughout the day:
🌱 Follow your child’s interests and join in their play.
💬 Talk about what you’re doing together.
👂 Listen, respond and show interest in their attempts to communicate.
⏳ Allow time for your child to process and respond.
❤️ Focus on connection rather than testing or asking lots of questions.
Remember, you don’t need to turn every moment into a teaching opportunity. Sometimes, simply being present, engaged and responsive is where the magic happens.
Small everyday interactions can make a meaningful difference in language development.
