There are lines in an article that carry more of the story than I realise when I first write them.

In My Fragile Heart, one of those lines is simply:

“I find myself near water.”

It’s a small detail, but it says something about place, habit and the way we move through difficult moments without needing to turn them into a lesson.

What happened after.
What it looks like now from the other side.

I’ve been thinking more about what I want Connect & Reflect to hold.

Not advice.
Not neat conclusions.
Not stories polished into lessons.

I’m interested in writing and conversations that leave some of the rough edges intact.

The strange parts.
The contradictions.
The things we don’t completely understand yet.

That’s where this project is heading, and I invite you to come along for the ride.

The part of a story that stays with me is rarely the polished summary.

It’s usually something smaller.

The person who always drives to the same lookout.

The cup of tea left untouched.

The sentence someone remembers years later.

The thing they did before they knew their life was about to change.

Those details are what make a story feel lived rather than explained, and that’s the kind of storytelling I want more of in Connect & Reflect.

My Fragile Heart is one of the more exposed pieces I’ve written.

It follows what happens when the emotion stops, everything goes strangely quiet, and I move into a version of myself that is practical, distant and focused on getting through.

It isn’t a piece with an answer attached. It’s simply an attempt to put words around a particular human experience.

Enter the power pause.

Not stopping the world. Just creating enough space to notice what is actually happening before every observation, possibility, and opinion arrives at once.

That pause changed the way I understood some of the traits I had spent years fighting.
