Treatment spotlight | Rejuran I

The skin around our eyes is some of the thinnest and most delicate on the face, so it’s often where we first notice changes, like crepey texture or a tired look that doesn’t match how we feel.

Rejuran I is an injectable treatment made from polynucleotides (PN), purified from wild Chum salmon DNA, and formulated specifically for the delicate skin around the eyes, with a focus on supporting skin quality.

It’s usually done as a course of sessions. Temporary discomfort, redness, swelling, bruising and small raised bumps can occur, and usually settle within a few days. The eye area can be more prone to bruising, and it’s not suitable for everyone. Full risk, recovery and aftercare information is covered in your consultation.

The goal is never to change your face. It’s about caring for your skin, so you still look like you.
Book a complimentary consultation with Joyce, our Registered Nurse, to talk through your concerns and whether Rejuran I is right for you.

Disclaimer: All treatments carry potential risks and side effects. Individual suitability and results vary. A consultation with a qualified health professional is required to determine whether this treatment is appropriate for you.

The treatment we’d book before any big event.

With Melbourne Cup, end-of-year parties and the festive season coming up, a Hydrafacial is one of our favourite ways to have your skin feeling fresh and looking refreshed, with minimal downtime so you can head straight back to your day.

Here’s how it works:
- Cleanse and gently exfoliate
- Vortex extraction to help clear out congestion
- Hydrating serums infused into the skin
- Finished with LED light therapy

Who’s it for?
- First-time facial clients wanting an easy place to start
- Anyone whose skin is feeling dull, dehydrated or a little congested
- Regular maintenance between other treatments
- Busy schedules and pre-event plans

Got an event coming up? We can help you plan the timing.

Individual results vary. A consultation is required to assess suitability.

Thinking about it, but not sure where to start?

A consultation with Joyce, our Registered Nurse is exactly that, just a conversation. Your history, your concerns, what you’re hoping for and what you’re not.

Recommendations come last, and sometimes the honest answer is ‘not right now’ or ‘let’s look after your skin first’. That’s a good consultation too.

No pressure, no obligation. Just a chance to ask questions and leave with a clearer picture.

Yesterday was World Menopause Day, so we wanted to talk about something so many of our clients bring up: “my skin just feels different lately.”

As hormones shift, skin can become drier, feel thinner and less plump, get more sensitive or flushed, and sun spots can become more noticeable.

Small, consistent habits can help support your skin: gentle skincare, daily SPF, and eating well with plenty of fruit, veg, protein and healthy fats.

Swipe for the fast facts, and save this for later.

For menopause symptoms, your GP is the best place to start. If you’d like help working out what your skin needs now, a skin consultation is a great first step.

Last weekend our dermal therapist Lily attended a skin education forum The Ville Resort-Casino here in Townsville, learning from doctors focused on skin health.

The sessions covered sensitive skin, rosacea, acne and scalp conditions, including the latest evidence and how doctors approach these concerns. A really valuable refresher, and a good reminder that skin is always evolving, with things like our environment, stress and busy lifestyles all playing a role.

Lily’s biggest takeaways?
- Skincare should suit your skin, not a trend
- SPF matters for every skin concern, every day
- The best routine is one that fits your real life

Ongoing education is a big part of how we care for your skin at Chrysalis. If you’re dealing with sensitivity, redness or breakouts and aren’t sure where to start, a skin consultation is the best first step.

We’d love to welcome you in.

Your skin after a sweaty class needs these 5 things…

Now the north Qld heat is ramping up, gym and heated Pilates sessions are getting sweatier. And if you can’t shower straight away (school pickup, the shops, straight back to work… we get it), what you do in those first few minutes can make a real difference to your skin.

Here’s what our dermal therapist recommends keeping in your bag:

1️⃣ A gentle facial spray
Sweat, oil and bacteria sitting on the skin can contribute to congestion, especially in our humidity. A gentle facial spray or cleansing wipe helps freshen skin until you can properly cleanse, and an antibacterial spray may help reduce build-up.

2️⃣ SPF
Sweat and towelling off wear down your morning sunscreen, even water-resistant formulas. If you’re heading back out in daylight, reapply to your face, neck, ears and chest. UVA can pass through car side windows, so the drive home counts too.

3️⃣ A clean face towel
Pat, don’t rub. Rubbing can irritate warm, sensitive skin, and a shared or used gym towel can transfer bacteria straight back onto your face.

4️⃣ A change of top
Damp, sweaty fabric sitting against your skin (hello, chest and back) can trap heat and add to congestion. A quick change makes a difference.

5️⃣ Hat and sunnies
For the walk back to the car. Sunscreen is just one layer, and in Townsville’s UV you want all of them.

Bonus tip: keep your sunscreen in your gym bag, not the car. It should be stored below 30°C, and a parked car up here gets much hotter than that.

Save this for your next class 🤍 and send it to your gym bestie.

Signs your skin might be ready for a peel.

👉🏽 It’s felt oilier since the weather warmed up
👉🏽 Your makeup isn’t sitting like it used to
👉🏽 The humidity’s back, and so is the congestion
👉🏽 It’s feeling a little dull or uneven in texture
👉🏽 Your usual routine just isn’t cutting it lately

Sound familiar?

Our Deep Clean Facial is designed for congested and breakout-prone skin. It includes a deep cleanse, gentle exfoliation, steam and extractions, then either a customised mask or a superficial peel, depending on what your clinician feels is right for your skin on the day, finished with LED light therapy.

With minimal downtime for most people, it’s a lovely option for oily, congested skin as the weather warms up.

Thinking about a stronger peel or a more advanced skin treatment? We always recommend starting with a consultation, so we can understand your skin and work out what’s appropriate for you.

Individual results vary. A consultation is required to assess suitability.

Our dermal therapist Lily is on camera for the first time, and she went straight for the SPF myth she hears the most.

“You don’t need sunscreen inside.”

Not quite. UVA rays can pass through window glass, so sitting by a sunny window at work or spending time in the car still counts as sun exposure.

And it adds up. Every window seat, every school run, every quick errand. UV exposure is one of the biggest contributors to pigmentation and uneven skin tone over time, which is one of the most common concerns Lily sees here in Townsville.

Near a sunny window or driving? Wear your SPF.

October in Townsville = extreme UV, even on the cooler, breezier days, and because sun exposure is one of the biggest contributors to visible changes in skin over time (pigmentation, uneven tone, fine lines and texture), this is the advice we give our clients every time:

✔️ Choose a broad spectrum, water resistant SPF30 or higher, as the last step of your morning routine.
✔️ Use about a teaspoon for your face, neck and ears. Most of us use half that.
✔️ Don’t forget the easy-to-miss spots around your eyes, hairline, chest and the backs of your hands.
✔️ Inside isn’t always UV-free. UVA rays can pass through window glass, so if you sit by a window at work or spend a lot of time driving, it’s worth wearing SPF on those days too.
✔️ Apply 20 minutes before heading out. Reapply every 2 hours, and after swimming, sweating or towelling off.
✔️ Keep it out of the hot car. Sunscreen should be stored below 30°C.
✔️ Had a skin treatment recently? Your skin may be more sensitive to the sun for a little while, so follow your aftercare closely.
✔️ Keep up regular skin checks with your GP, and don’t wait if a spot is new or changing.

While we’re here… a few myths we’re not buying:
✖️ “It’s cloudy, I’ll skip it.” UV still gets through cloud.
✖️ “It’s not even hot yet.” UV isn’t heat. You can’t feel it.
✖️ “My makeup has SPF.” Lovely bonus, but not enough on its own.

Save this one for next time you’re about to run out the door for school pickup.
