How are you going with getting your greens in this Spring? ๐Ÿฅฌ

Asparagus is one of my fave Spring vegetables. It's quick to cook, pairs beautifully with almost any protein at dinner, and makes the perfect base for a fresh seasonal salad.

Asparagus is valuable nutritionally, too. It contains prebiotic inulin, a type of fibre that feeds beneficial gut bacteria and supports a diverse, healthy microbiome. Asparagus contains generous folate and vitamin K.

It's also rich in compounds that support the body's phase two detoxification pathways, helping your liver process and eliminate waste products efficiently.

Simple meals like this are a reminder that healthy eating doesn't have to be complicated. Sometimes it's as easy as adding another green vegetable to your plate.

Here's one of my go-to recipes for spring by .

With my 47th birthday on the horizon, perimenopause is very much on my mind, both for myself and for the wonderful Women I work with every day ๐Ÿค

The more Women I support through this transition, the more empathy I have for just how challenging it can be. Itโ€™s made me carefully consider what I can be doing now to support my own health through this next chapter.

My own self-care in anticipation looks like:
ใ€ฐ๏ธ intentionally including more whole organic soy foods like tofu, tempeh, miso & edamame.
ใ€ฐ๏ธ prioritising strength training and increasing the intensity of my exercise.
ใ€ฐ๏ธ fuelling properly around training.
ใ€ฐ๏ธ eating in a structured way, and avoiding skipping meals.
ใ€ฐ๏ธ making sure Iโ€™m meeting my protein and calcium needs each day.
ใ€ฐ๏ธ prioritising and protecting my sleep, maintaining a good bedtime routine.
ใ€ฐ๏ธ building targeted nutrients into my daily routine, such as magnesium glycinate and good-quality ubiquinol.

On World Menopause Day, I particularly wanted to address soy.

Soy has been surrounded by so much confusion because of its phytoestrogen content, but phytoestrogens are not the same as our body's oestrogen. Soy isoflavones have a modulating impact on oestrogen receptors that can offer balancing effects when the hormones are volatile.

They also have anti-inflammatory impacts and are prebiotic to the gut. Whole soy foods can absolutely have a place in a nourishing diet through perimenopause and menopause.

For me, the focus of this stage is about creating strong foundations.
It's about understanding what's changing in my body & being more intentional with the foundations that help me feel strong, energised and well.

Here's to feeling informed and empowered through perimenopause, rather than fearful of it.

Iโ€™m really proud to be part of the Orchard Street Directory .

Orchard Street is a modern apothecary and growing collective that has been part of the wellness space for decades ~ building the trust of a loyal and far-reaching community.

To be included within their growing network of practitioners, facilitators and healers feels special. Each clinician in the directory is selected for their expertise and alignment with a naturopathic philosophy of health, looking beyond individual symptoms and supporting the whole person.

Itโ€™s a philosophy that aligns so closely with the way I practise and the way I believe healthcare should feel: considered, individualised and deeply connected to the foundations of health.

We are Nature.
Iโ€™m very grateful to be part of a community that shares that philosophy.

Women's health is tri-generational ๐Ÿค

One of the most fascinating concepts in Women's health is that a Woman's biological, epigenetic and social health simultaneously reflects her mother's health during pregnancy. Plus her current life choices, environmental exposures, stress hormones and nutrition also shape her future baby's genetic expression.

Also, when a Woman is pregnant with a daughter, her growing baby is already developing and hosting the eggs that may one day become her grandchildren. This means the mother's nutrition and environment during pregnancy may influence not only her daughter, but also aspects of her daughter's future reproductive health.

This is one of the many ways epigenetics shapes our health. While our genes provide the blueprint, our environment, including nutrition, stress and chemical burden , can influence how those genes are expressed across generations.

It's a powerful reminder that supporting Women's health isn't just about the present.
Every opportunity to optimise nutrition, reduce inflammation, minimise chemical exposures, and support metabolic health for Women before and during pregnancy has the potential to create beneficial ripple effects, for generations to come.

Women's health has never been just about one Woman.
When we invest in Women, we invest in future generations.

This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, make a date with your breasts ๐ŸŒธ

A week rarely goes by in my private clinical practice where I donโ€™t meet with a woman navigating a recent breast cancer diagnosis. It is very real, and its impact can be incredibly far-reaching.

Alongside appropriate screening and medical care, one simple thing we can all do is become more familiar with our own breasts.

I encourage women to build breast awareness into their routine, regularly taking the time to look, feel and notice what is normal for their body. I often mention Breast Oil because it can turn that check-in into something that feels nurturing and intentional rather than clinical.

Think of it as a little date with yourself ~ a few quiet minutes to connect with your body and become familiar with any changes.

Of course, breast massage or self-checking doesn't replace recommended breast screening, imaging or assessment by your healthcare team.

If you notice something new or unusual, please don't wait to have it checked by your GP or specialist.

This month is a good reminder to know your breasts, know what's normal for you, and pay attention when something changes.

As the weather begins to warm, our plates naturally become a little brighter, tooโ˜€๏ธ

Spring brings an abundance of fresh, nutrient-dense produce that not only tastes incredible but also supports your health, in so many ways ๐Ÿฅ—

๐Ÿฅฌ Leafy greens for folate and magnesium.
๐Ÿฅฆ Broccoli and asparagus for fibre and prebiotics.
๐Ÿ“ Strawberries for vitamin C and antioxidants.
๐Ÿซ› Peas for plant protein and fibre.
๐ŸŒฟ Fresh herbs to add flavour and beneficial plant compounds.

Eating seasonally is a wonderful way to embrace variety.

Rotating the fruits and vegetables you eat helps increase the diversity of nutrients and phytochemicals your body receives, while also supporting a healthier gut microbiome.

This Spring, challenge yourself to try something new from your garden or your local farmers' market, or add an extra seasonal vegetable to your dinner plate.

Catching up in person ๐Ÿค

So much happens behind the scenes at Awaken Your Health, and I wanted to take a moment to celebrate two incredible Women (& friends) who help keep everything running smoothly for me.

On the left is the magical & clever Eloise. Many of you will have spoken with her on the clinic phone, or received a thoughtful reply from her in your inbox. She's often the first point of contact, and she does it with such warmth and care.

And on the right is Mikaila, who is smart & quick witted, and has been helping me keep my social media relevant, educational and alive for a few years now. She has an incredible ability to bring my ideas to life and make complex health information accessible.

The best part? I don't just admire their work; I genuinely value them & love them as people.

They are kind, talented, hardworking Women, and I feel incredibly lucky to have them as part of the Awaken Your Health team.

So this post is to celebrate Eloise & Miakila for everything they do behind the scenes.
None of it goes unnoticed. Thank you x

07/09/2026

When we think about women's health, we often focus on hormones. But beneath every hormonal process is something just as important, cellular energy.

Mitochondria are the tiny organelles inside almost every cell responsible for producing ATP ~ the energy that keeps our cells functioning. Many people call them the cell's "powerhouse", but I like to think of them as the little mouse on a wheel, constantly working to keep our cells energised.

This is especially relevant in women's health because human oocytes (female egg cells that we ovulate as o**m) contain one of the highest concentrations of mitochondria in the body, second only to cardiac muscle cells. From oocyte maturation, to ovulation, fertilisation and early embryo development, these processes are incredibly energy-dependent.

Your mitochondria rely on nutrients to do their job well.

Some of the key nutrients that support healthy mitochondrial function include:
~ B vitamins, essential for energy metabolism.
~ Magnesium, involved in hundreds of enzymatic reactions, including ATP production.
~ Ubiquinol (the active form of CoQ10) is a key component of the mitochondrial energy production pathway and an important antioxidant that helps protect mitochondria from oxidative stress.

Ubiquinol is found in organ meats, sardines, oily fish, and some plant foods, but getting a therapeutic amount requires supplementation for most people.

While nutrition is only one piece of the puzzle, supporting your mitochondria is one of the foundations of supporting healthy cellular function and Women's health at large.

Spring is here and if youโ€™re thinking about taking a little pressure off your liver, your evening sundowner might be a good place to start.

Iโ€™ve been loving a crisp, refreshing alcohol-free alternative from , to mark the end of the day.

Cucumber & mint is a favourite of mine ~ clean, interesting flavours, with functional ingredients including L-theanine and one of my favourite calming herbs, passionflower.

A lovely way to still have that โ€œend of the dayโ€ ritual, without the alcohol ~ or worrying about how it might disrupt your sleep.

Cheers to spring ๐ŸŒธ

Returning to Woollahra ๐Ÿค

There's something really special about coming back to a place that feels like home.

I'll be consulting from my own clinic space in Woollahra. A place where I can consistently care for my wonderful clients and continue building the community I've missed so much.

Having a permanent space was important for me to have a place of continuity for my clients.
Iโ€™m excited to put my roots back down, welcoming familiar faces, and creating an environment where you can feel supported, heard and cared for every time you walk through the door.

As Spring arrives, it feels like the perfect season to settle back into Woollahra Village, and I couldn't be more excited to see you there.

Youโ€™ll find me here on Wednesdays & Fridays, 9amโ€“6pm, plus occasional Saturdays.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me along the journey.

I can't wait to welcome you into my new space.
