Well things will look worse before they get better! Drying out the office from water damage. We just had our office finished and looking so welcoming, such a shame to see all the hard work needing to be redone. Things are progressing and we will soon be back in our offices. Good evening everyone. Restoration has begun! Yay. Our office still has dehumidifiers and air exchangers throughout the office and it is not safe to be working there everyday. You can find our team at the manor auditorium or leave a message 613-332-4700. Messages are checked often throughout the day. We are slowly cleaning up and getting things repaired day to day. Thank you for supporting us throughout this unwanted journey. The damage from fire is one thing but then you have the water damage putting out the fire. Lots of mess! Good news is everything is replaceable!

Hi everyone. Updates on our fire restoration. Our office is open Mon-Friday 9:30-4:30 pm now. Please excuse the disarray. We are waiting on an engineer to investigate cause and this is delaying the clean up process. We need to keep serving our community so we are moving forward the best we can. I want to thank everyone that has donated to get our Meals on Wheels stock replaced as soon as possible. We lost just over 1,000 meals. We have already replaced 400 to date and they are getting delivered to seniors now. All donations are appreciated. $7 buys a senior a meal. Donate if you can please. Send e transfer to [email protected] or by mail P.O. Box 1786 or drop into the office. All donations will have a tax receipt sent. Thank you for all your support. Our community is golden when it comes to caring for our seniors. 💜 The parking lot is now paved and you can enter and park close to our entrance once again.

Hello everyone. Office updates and fire situation. The fire was contained to one office in our work area. We have significant smoke and water damage as you can imagine. The office is closed to the public as air quality is not safe. We do not know the cause of the fire as yet. Starting October 13 you can attend the lower auditorium space at the Professional Building of the Hastings Centennial Manor to reach our staff. Staff will be there on rotation. VON adult day program will be running from the same temporary location. You will need to knock on the window there to alert staff to let you in the building. Also the entire parking lot is being prepped for paving at the manor so be prepared for delays getting to park. We are navigating this fire and restoration. The process will be slow we are told. We will need drywall, ceiling tiles and all carpets replaced. Desks and computers. Everything you can imagine has been effected. Every item in our office needs to be wiped down and placed in a clean area. This will take its time and we are at the mercy of insurance and restoration companies. We have been treated very well so far and we are grateful. We have only cancelled two hot meal runs to date and will be back to full operation on Monday. All our Meals on Wheels on site need to be replaced. Many people are asking how they can help and want to contribute somehow. If you choose, you can send a senior a meal for a contribution of $7. This will go toward building our meals on wheels stock immediately. Our insurance deductible is $2500.00 these are items not in our operating budget so any contribution is very much appreciated. I want to thank the fire department for all their efforts with our fire late last night. Without them our office would be in far worse shape. I attended lastnight to see 12 firefighters working together, many with small kids at home and families, spending their time to help strangers, putting their lives in harms way. Town of Bancroft should be super proud of their Chief,Pat Hoover, and team. Everyone brought order and calm and were very professional. Until you witness the devastation first hand you can easily take firefighters for granted. I am super appreciative to each and every one of you. Thank you for your selfless generosity.
