I hesitated to share this because it’s a personal conversation, and I know this topic can bring different opinions. But I felt it was worth sharing as a beautiful example of treating one another with love and respect, even when our convictions differ.

As a family, we let Mathias’ teachers know about our decision not to participate in the school’s Halloween celebration. We shared our hearts honestly and kindly, making it clear that our choice was not a judgment of other families.

Their replies filled us with gratitude. They received our message with kindness and respect and made our family feel understood.

This is something we want to teach our son: we can stand firm in what we believe while listening to, loving, and valuing those who see things differently.

We are grateful to his teachers for the care they show our family. We’re sharing their replies anonymously, with thankful hearts.

This exchange reminded me of these words:

“Let all that you do be done in love.”
1 Corinthians 16:14

“If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men.”
Romans 12:18

“But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection.”

Trust me, this breakfast and his vitamins might change that grumpy morning mood!
