Patient Safety Right Now

The Canadian Patient Safety Institute (CPSI) has created a new strategy called PATIENT SAFETY RIGHT NOW. You can hear the urgency in our call to action to focus on demonstrating what works and strengthening commitment to patient safety in Canada…right now!

Your support is needed for the successful implementation of measurable, sustainable patient safety improvement. Initiatives need to be evaluated to determine what works. Patients need to be involved in their own care. The evidence of what works then needs to be translated in to sustainable, committed standard practices for practitioners and providers at all levels of our health care system, across the country.

We are so excited to see how our role will evolve over the coming years as we prevent patient safety incidents from occurring. Together we can make the global culture of safe care a reality.

The time for patient safety is RIGHT NOW!

For 20 years a simple kit designed to share vital health information has been speaking for those who can’t during emergency situations. To recognize Canadian #PatientSafetyWeek, we are taking a look at what you will find in the Emergency Response Information Kit or E.R.I.K. – a unique made in #Manitoba resource created by paramedics and seniors resource coordinators. E.R.I.K. was rolled out province wide in 2002 and has since been embraced by first responders and seniors’ groups. The kits, which can be placed on your fridge door, include a health information form, medical history, allergies, medication as well as contact information and health card numbers.
