Over the weekend, we had the pleasure of hosting a Spellers Social, which included a fantastic conference all about AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) technology and training.📱🩷
This is something particularly close to our director Rod’s heart, as his daughter is non-verbal. It’s a reminder of just how important it is to ensure that everyone has a voice, everyone is listened to, and everyone has the opportunity to express themselves in the way that works best for them.
Communication doesn’t look the same for everyone, and being able to communicate your thoughts, feelings, needs and personality can be truly life-changing. AAC technology helps break down barriers and opens up a world of possibilities for people who may not communicate through speech.
With AAC Awareness Month also taking place, the timing couldn’t be more fitting! 💚It’s the perfect opportunity to raise awareness, share knowledge and celebrate the many different ways people communicate.
At Aera, we believe that everyone deserves to be heard, understood and valued. Because having no spoken words does not mean having nothing to say. 🩵
And to top it all off we ended the day with a double rainbow🌈 Aera Support Community Group Genesis Entertainment Centre Aeras Sensory Den
