Today marks the start of International Stress Awareness Week - a campaign created and led by International Stress Management Association UK.
Work-related stress remains one of the leading causes of sickness absence across many industries in the UK. According to recent data from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE):
➡️ 964,000 workers reported suffering from work-related stress, depression or anxiety (new or long-standing) in 2024/25
➡️ An estimated 22.1 million working days were lost as a result
These figures highlight that stress is not just an individual issue – it is an organisational challenge that requires active leadership intervention.
