🤔What makes someone decide to try kinesiology for the first time?

For many people, it's not necessarily something they've been considering for a long time. Sometimes it's simply reaching a point where they feel they've tried everything else and don't know where to turn next.

Perhaps they've been struggling with their health or wellbeing for months, even years. They've seen their GP, had tests, been referred to specialists or tried different approaches, but they're still not getting the answers or support they're looking for.

With GPs and the NHS under enormous pressure, waiting for appointments and answers can leave people feeling frustrated, helpless and desperate to find a way forward.

That's often when people begin looking at other options.

Kinesiology might be something they've heard about from a friend, or perhaps someone else has shared their own experience of how it helped them.

They might not fully understand how it works, and that's absolutely fine. Sometimes curiosity, a personal recommendation and a feeling that something is worth exploring are enough to take that first step into trying something new.

For some, it really is a case of thinking, "I've got nothing to lose by finding out more, so why not give it a go?"

Of course, kinesiology isn't a replacement for conventional medical care, and it's important to continue working with healthcare professionals where appropriate. What kinesiology can do is offer a complementary approach to supporting wellbeing, with time to explore the person as a whole.

Sharing client's personal stories can help others understand what a session might be like and why people choose to return.

So, we'd love to hear from you.

➡If you've experienced kinesiology, what first encouraged you to give it a try? Was it a recommendation, curiosity, or simply feeling ready to explore a different approach? Let us know in the comments below.

Your story might be just what someone else needs to hear. 🤩

What do we actually mean when we talk about ‘balance’ in kinesiology?

It’s a word you’ll hear a lot.

“We’re going to balance that.”
“Come for a balance.”
“Let’s see what needs balancing.”

But what does that actually mean?

In Kinesiology, we look at the body as a whole, recognising that different aspects of our wellbeing can influence one another.

Physical or structural.
Nutritional or biochemical.
Emotional.
Energetic.

Rather than looking at one area in isolation, muscle testing gives the practitioner feedback that helps guide the session and explore where support may be useful.

A ‘balance’ might look very different from one person to the next.

It could involve working with meridians, reflex points, nutrition, structure, emotional stress or a combination of different techniques.

At the heart of this is the idea of homeostasis, which is the body’s ongoing process of maintaining a stable internal environment as conditions around and within us change.

Our bodies have remarkable inbuilt processes for regulation, repair and recovery. In kinesiology, the aim of balancing is to support the body towards this state, creating conditions in which its natural self-regulating and healing processes can function as effectively as possible.

We’re not looking for a perfect state where everything is permanently ‘in balance’.

We’re supporting the body and the person as a whole, at that particular moment in time.

What does ‘balance’ mean to you?

🧂 SALT vs 🍬 SUGAR

What They Do to Your Lymphatic System

Your lymphatic system manages:
• Fluid balance
• Immune waste removal
• Inflammation clearance
• Interstitial fluid return

Salt and sugar stress it differently.

🧂 SALT — Fluid Load

Salt contains sodium, an electrolyte that regulates fluid balance.

When sodium intake is high:

• Sodium increases in the bloodstream
• Water follows sodium (osmosis)
• Blood volume increases
• Blood pressure may rise
• More fluid shifts into tissues
• The lymphatic system must clear that extra interstitial fluid

What this may feel like:
• Puffy face
• Swollen ankles
• Tight fingers
• Temporary water weight gain

Salt primarily creates:
➡ Fluid burden
➡ Increased lymphatic workload

It does NOT directly damage lymph vessels.
The issue is fluid overload, not inflammation.

🍬 SUGAR — Inflammatory Load

Refined sugar affects the body metabolically.

When sugar intake is high:

• Blood glucose spikes
• Insulin rises
• Repeated spikes lead to insulin resistance
• Oxidative stress increases
• Inflammatory cytokines increase
• Blood vessel lining (endothelium) becomes stressed

The lymphatic system must then clear:

• Inflammatory proteins
• Immune byproducts
• Damaged cellular debris

Sugar primarily creates:
➡ Inflammatory burden
➡ Metabolic stress
➡ Endothelial dysfunction

Over time, this can increase chronic inflammation and tissue stress.

🧠 The Core Difference

Salt increases fluid load.
Sugar increases inflammatory load.

Both increase lymphatic workload — but through different mechanisms.

Temporary puffiness = often fluid-related.
Chronic fatigue, inflammation, tissue pain = often metabolic/inflammatory-related.

🌿 What Supports Healthy Lymph Flow

• Balanced sodium intake
• Stable blood sugar
• Proper hydration
• Movement
• Deep diaphragmatic breathing
• Anti-inflammatory eating patterns

It’s not about fear.
It’s about physiology and long-term patterns.

I would suggest this goes for hormonal health of all ages. Developing girls (and boys!) would also need to be careful. What a world we live in!

PERI & POST MENOPAUSE - Some helpful Do's and Don'ts

There are many ways of alleviating the symptoms of peri or post menopause using herbs, vitamins and minerals, and making small dietary changes.

The key is to understand what is going on in your body and what route will help you most. Your local Kinesiologist can help you get clarity on this...why guess when you can muscle test?!

Another thing to consider is whether you are ingesting XENOESTROGENS; synthetic industrial chemicals found in a variety of plastics (as well as in sealants, consumer products, preservatives, and insecticides).

Xenoestrogens can have a phenomenally negative effect on some people's hormone health (and they can affect men as well as women).

THE DO'S - Here are some ways of avoiding ingesting xeno-oestrogens:

Use glass, stainless steel or BPA-free bottles for water and drinks
Use glass or ceramic containers in a microwave (ensure they are microwave safe)
Use a plastic or silicon splash guard over food in the microwave, ensuring these are not touching the food
Or use a plate to cover food while heating - please be careful of your fingers and face when you remove the plate!

THE DON'TS - Here are some tips on to protect yourself from xenoestrogens:
Don't leave plastic bottles in the car and then drink the water in them
Don't re-fill plastic water bottles more than about 3 or 4 times
Don't microwave food or drink in plastic containers
Don't have hot drinks or food in Styrofoam
If using clingfilm, don't let it touch hot food or food heated in a microwave

These small changes can make a MASSIVE difference to your hormone health.

What Happens During a Kinesiology Session?

Your first kinesiology session is all about you. Your practitioner will take the time to understand your medical and lifestyle history, helping to identify any specific concerns or areas of stress. Everything is done with your consent, and the goal is to support your overall well-being.

Using gentle muscle response testing, your kinesiologist will assess imbalances that may be affecting your health. You’ll stay fully clothed, and the process is completely non-invasive.

💡 A key thing to remember: Kinesiology isn’t about diagnosing or treating conditions—it’s about releasing stress! When the body is in balance, it can heal and function at its best.

During your session, you’ll be asked to place your arms, legs, or head in different positions while your practitioner applies light pressure to test muscle responses. This helps identify exactly what your body needs to restore balance.

Many people say they leave a session feeling lighter, more relaxed, with more energy and less pain or tension. Your kinesiologist may also offer tailored recommendations, such as dietary adjustments, nutritional support, relaxation techniques, or lifestyle changes, to help you maintain that balance.

Kinesiology can help find out what’s going on for so many things ❤️

You’re tired, your digestion is playing up, you’re not sleeping properly, or you simply don’t feel like yourself… but you don’t know where to start.

Perhaps you’ve changed your diet, tried different supplements, exercised more, rested more and you’re still left wondering, what does my body actually need?

Kinesiology offers a way to explore that question.

Using muscle testing, a kinesiologist looks at the body as a whole, helping to identify areas of imbalance and the support that may be appropriate for you as an individual.

Sometimes the biggest transformation isn’t just feeling better. It’s understanding your body better, feeling more connected to what you need and having a clearer way forward.

Your body has a story to tell. Kinesiology can help you listen.
