Almost 7 years in… and still evolving! 💗

I’ve been busy making a few changes behind the scenes at the Developmental Play Academy, refining my training, simplifying my offerings and making space for some exciting new collaborations and opportunities!

Returning to clinical practice as a Paediatric OT has been such a lovely part of this journey too. Being back working directly with children and families, whilst continuing to share my knowledge with practitioners around the world, really does give me the best of both worlds.

And there’s plenty more happening behind the scenes, including some wonderful collaborations and special offers I can’t wait to share!

At the heart of it all is what I’ve always been passionate about. Helping practitioners understand how early play, movement and connection build the foundations for lifelong development and the skills we need for everyday life.

Championing floor based play, varied play diets and inclusive, developmentally rich spaces where babies and young children can simply play, explore and move. And importantly, empowering parents with the knowledge and confidence to nurture this through everyday play at home.

Because play is natural, and every child deserves opportunities to experience it, whatever their developmental starting point.

Oh, and I’ve recently had a lovely new brand shoot, so expect to see some new photos popping up here soon too!

Celebrating the wonderful Aga from Aga Matos | Developmental Play & Creative Exploration, who has just completed her Tummy Time Practitioner PLUS+ training with me! 💗🎉

Aga has completed the full training, including all the additional specialist workshops exploring how to support babies with additional needs and individualised support requirements.

Tummy time is such an important part of a baby’s play diet, and this focused training goes beyond simply sharing tummy time activities. It’s about understanding the why behind tummy time, how to support babies at different developmental stages, adapt for individual needs and help parents feel confident supporting their babies at home.

Tummy time is so often seen as something to dread, another thing parents feel they should be doing. But it doesn’t have to be! It can be a fun, playful and connected way to spend time with your baby, nurturing their development through everyday moments together.

Whether practitioners choose to offer their own tummy time workshops, courses, programmes, 1:1 support or embed this knowledge into their existing services, there are so many ways to bring this learning to babies and their families.

A few little snippets of life lately 💗
A bit of everything really! Playing Lego with my own two, out in nature everyday, walking the dog, spotting hares in the field, peeling apples and dealing with yet another warning light on my car 🙄

And somewhere amongst all that, I’m still here doing my thing! Working as a children’s OT, marking assignments, supporting my lovely students and sharing all the things I’ve learnt over the years about play and child development from a health and wellbeing perspective..
I love play, I love being outdoors, I love the simple things and I genuinely love the work I do.
Life is busy, sometimes a bit chaotic, but there’s lots of lovely stuff in amongst it all.
Anyway, just a little glimpse into life behind the Developmental Play Academy. Still here, still doing the work, and still as passionate as ever about helping little people move, play and develop.

Where are my somewhat chaotic but playful people at? I’m waiting for you.

So many new faces here lately, so do have a swipe through to get to know the real me… the credentials and the layers underneath 🌹 you should also know that if you catch me talking to a tree, talking really high pitched to a dog, or dancing in the woods, it’s completely normal. For me anyway. 😆
