I recently did a sneak peek day of training into IFS - Internal Family Systems.

A very personally empowering approach which has left a lasting impression.
I hope to pursue it further in the future.
For now I feel it’s a wonderful tool for me to use for reflection on my personal and professional self.
I’d love to practise some “parts talk” with anyone else who’s out there training!

Thank you Internal Family Systems for a wonderful taster training day experience!

And here’s a nature treasure I recently found. What a stunning colour 🤩

HAPPY WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY! ⭐️

A day to bring awareness, show kindness and advocacy against social stigma.

The theme for 2026 is “Lived experiences heard: real voices, real change” (World Federation for Mental Health).

Famous musician Debby Harry has spoken openly about her battle with anxiety and depression. After struggling with the pressures of the music industry and the emphasis that was placed on her looks, she admitted feeling crippling anxiety around her appearance. It was so bad that she removed all of the mirrors in her house to escape looking at her reflection. She also struggled with aging anxiety in her later years.

And me! I’m not famous and wow! I wish I looked like Debby Harry!
As the outsider looking in, you can’t believe that someone so beautiful could believe something so awful about themself ❤️
The mental battles that living life can bring to our doors, how harsh we treat ourselves in the process. How unfair a place our own thoughts can take us.
Be kind! To yourself and others. Be patient. And show yourself and others loadsa love ❤️ 💥

I have lived experience of C-PTSD, anxiety and perinatal mental illness. I am happy to share my experiencing with anyone who is interested and I love to hear others also. That level of connection is so powerful and I hope will be more encouraged as time goes by. I’m unashamedly honest with how I’m feeling, probably to the point where it can be taken as inappropriate. I see it makes some people feel uncomfortable, but that’s a their problem. I know sharing in that way isn’t for everyone, but maybe start small. The next time you’re not feeling ok and someone asks, say no, no I’m not feeling too great today/this moment/right here right now.
Let’s be brave together!

Dreaming is free 🤩

September is and as we come to the end of it, I want to shine a light on my old lass. This is our Dotty. We’ve been battling through for some years, until finally, it was time for us to make some difficult decisions in regard to her care. We moved her into a wonderful care facility almost 2 years ago now. I’m jealous of the activities she gets up to these days.
She is still marvellous and can still show me a trick or two. But it is very hard at times. I feel like I’ve lost her so very many times already.

Having lived experience of caring for someone in this way, I feel I can draw on my own struggles to help you with yours. Experiences like this in our lives can at times have us to, and almost to - ‘breaking point’. Giving so much of ourselves to others, but remember! ‘don’t forget about yourself!’❤️

Did anyone else manage to enjoy that stunning night sky last night? This one promises to be equally beautiful!

So here we are, the first day of the darkest half of the year!
Wowsers, that’s flown! It seems 2 minutes since spring equinox!
I like equinox. It highlights ‘balance’ for me. Equal amounts of light and dark. This helps me to stop, reflect and pinpoint where I need this most in my life going forward. It might not last, but the exercise helps “for seeing me through” the “dark”. Helps me to dread it less.

I’ve been quietly brainstorming ideas and activities that will see me through til spring - top of the list, keep getting outside. I’ll also be hungrily grasping any sun that shows its face.

I know I’ll find the next 6 months go much slower, but slower is ok. Balance out the busy busy of the last 6 months. The “light” half.

Tonight I’ll be placing myself back under the moon as it grows even fatter. Have another ponder on what this half of the year will bring. What I want to leave behind maybe with the light half, ready to let it all go with the full moon in a couple of days.

Our next sessions are:

Both sessions will explore Spoon Theory, looking at energy and capacity and how this can help us understand and support neurodivergent young people.

💙 🌿Supporting teenagers & young people with their mental health 🌿

Alongside my private practice at Hope Anchor Therapy, I also work as a practitioner within CAMHS, specifically supporting young people experiencing mental health crisis.

Through this work, I see first-hand how difficult things can become when a young person reaches that point, and it’s made me even more passionate about early support and prevention.

I genuinely believe there needs to be more help available before a young person reaches crisis. Sometimes a young person just needs someone to listen, someone who understands, and a safe, non-judgemental space to talk about what they’re going through.

This is an area I’m really passionate about developing within Hope Anchor Therapy. I want young people to know that reaching out for support doesn’t have to mean things have become unbearable.

I can support young people with a range of difficulties, including anxiety, low confidence, fears and phobias, emotional wellbeing and life changes, using an individual and compassionate approach.

Sessions can take place in town centre based therapy room, or I can also work within schools subject to school approval.

I genuinely want to help where I can. If you’re a young person struggling, or a parent who isn’t sure what to do or where to turn, I’m happy to offer any free advice or support over email at [email protected]

You don’t have to have all the answers or even know exactly what you need sometimes the first step is simply reaching out.

📧 Send me a message or email and I’ll do my best to help. Visit my website www.hopeanchortherapy.com for more information.

I’m fully insured, Enhanced DBS checked, registered BACP and ABH
