ICUSteps Ipswich A friendly support group for you and your loved ones following critical illness. Run by people who understand, because they’ve been there.

21/10/2026

Today is ! We’re proud to mark this important day alongside Lifelines, BACCN British Association of Critical Care Nurses, and the Intensive Care Society.

Every year, thousands of people leave intensive care facing physical, cognitive, emotional and social challenges that can last months or even years. ICU saves the body, but rehabilitation saves the person.

This year’s campaign shines a spotlight on personalised goal setting, community support, and accessible rehabilitation resources that help people recover better and faster. Join us as we celebrate recovery, champion rehabilitation, and empower every person rebuilding their life after critical illness.

We're gearing up for 2026 this Wednesday 21st October.

We are encouraging healthcare teams, patients and families to be and join us for a nationwide movement to celebrate recovery after critical illness, whilst raising awareness of the vital role rehabilitation plays in helping people rebuild their lives.

Every year, people leave intensive care facing physical, cognitive and emotional challenges that can last months or even years. As this important campaign reminds us, ICU saves the body, but rehabilitation saves the person.

On Wednesday, we will be launching new evidence-based resources and toolkit - Your Recovery Goals. If you are an ICU team, don't forget to order your free footballs to help your patients set their goals.
