Whilst the business we founded over twenty years ago has grown to serve homeopathic practitioners, students and the public worldwide, we have never lost touch with our passion for healing and our founding principles. In an ever changing world, we remain committed to producing homœopathic remedies to the traditional Hahnemann technique of hand trituration and potentisation and employ qualified homeopaths to almost all staff positions. This ensures our customers receive homœopathic remedies of quality and integrity backed by expert advice.

In 2001, Helios opened its London pharmacy in Covent Garden, giving the company a presence in the heart of the capital.

Being centrally located, is an ideal place for overseas customers to visit or collect large orders previously placed before arriving in the UK. All our remedies are made by hand to traditional methods and take time to prepare, and as such we always appreciate as much notice as possible if you would like to collect a large order.

In the mid-1990s the manufacturing premises was acquired next to the pharmacy and work began on bringing the building up to regulatory standards.

Helios holds a Manufacturing Licence enabling us to make a range of individual remedies and combination remedies available for re-sale in pharmacies, health shops and clinics.

Following the launch of the new manufacturing premises, licences were granted for 18 individual remedies and an 18-remedy Home & Family Kit, with the range launched at the Natural & Organic Products Show in Brighton in early 1997. The 18 remedy kit went on to win Best New Product at the show – a fantastic achievement and an early indication of what the Helios retail range could become.

The late 1980s saw increasing involvement in provings and close relationships with homeopaths, including Jeremy Sherr and The Guild. Provings have very much been a part of Helios, supporting homeopathy, practitioners and the development of new remedies. So many homeopaths were influential in their tremendous support of Helios, Robert Davidson, Martin Miles, Misha Norland to name a few.

By 1991, Helios had outgrown its first premises and moved across the road to 97 Camden Road, where we remain today.

John was also travelling to conferences and teaching homeopathic pharmacy at colleges, helping to spread the word about Helios and its remedies. The team was growing, the pharmacy was getting busier and the foundations for the future were being laid.

Work also began on developing our very own potentising machine based on the Korsokovian method and was completed in 1992. Helios was the first pharmacy to have a potentising machine, meaning we could supply our own remedies in high potencies.

It's November and soon we will be turning 40!
We will be charting our history over the next few days from the beginning right up to our big celebration. Focusing on the key moments that have made Helios one of the world's leading Homeopathic Pharmacies today.

Helios began with John Morgan’s passion for pharmacy, medicinal plants and homeopathy. While working as a locum pharmacist for two London homeopathic pharmacies, John became increasingly interested in homeopathy and went on to study at the London College of Homeopathy. Fellow students soon began asking him to teach them how to make remedies, with workshops often taking place at weekends in people’s homes.

From these early workshops came the idea of creating a pharmacy that would make remedies from scratch, using original starting materials, and would put the needs of homeopathic practitioners at its heart. With Maya alongside him, John took the leap.

On 10th November 1986 Helios opened its doors.
