Before this sounds like another rant- hear me out 🤣 I love spirituality. I do I dooooo! I’m interested in the things we can’t always explain.
But I’m also interested in how we use spiritual language to make ordinary human behaviour sound a little more transcendent.
We call it ‘protecting our energy’ (literally had to slap my own face the other day when that s**t came out of my mouth- I feel brain washed) Shadow work (love shadow work btw- try it) Alignment. Divine timing (I AM divinely protected!)
Sometimes these concepts or words, they actually help us avoid understanding ourselves, gives permission to divert from ourselves onto another.
Jung’s shadow is a particularly interesting example. It’s easy to talk about integrating the parts of ourselves we’ve rejected. It’s considerably harder to notice when we’re projecting those parts onto someone else. (We are- and it’s a s**tty thing to do)
Maybe we could be a little more curious about the difference between feeling enlightened and being willing to examine ourselves a little more deeply.
Self awareness without accountability can become pretty dark pretty quickly.
