35 strong and growing, and today we’re feeling grateful.

Thank you to our Senior Resource Partners and to the Care Connect NoVa team members who spent a beautiful day together at Morven Park. We even brought a couple of our clients out from their homes and care communities to join us, which made the afternoon extra special.

Whether you’re handing out candy, carving pumpkins, or just enjoying the costumes from the porch, we hope your day is full of treats and not too many tricks.

A friendly tip for trick-or-treat night: keep the porch light on and the walkway clear and well lit, so every visitor can get to your door safely.

We’re hiring in Northern Virginia.

Care Connect NoVa is reviewing applicants for flexible procedural transportation assignments, including at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital.

These assignments have a three-hour minimum, and times may vary. The pay is $27 to $30 an hour.

We’re looking for someone with a reliable vehicle, a valid license and adequate insurance, who is comfortable transporting older adults, waiting during procedures and handling delayed discharges. Excellent communication is a must.

If you want fall color without a long walk or a muddy trail, Meadowlark Botanical Gardens in Vienna is hard to beat.

The paths are paved and wheelchair accessible, so you can wander the whole 95 acres at your own pace. There’s a lake with a gazebo at the water’s edge, plenty of benches for resting, and enough color this time of year that you’ll want to stay a while. Bring a thermos of something warm, find a bench, and let the leaves do the work.

It’s an easy one to turn into an afternoon: a slow loop around the gardens, a long sit by the water, and a good conversation along the way.

Trick or treat? Definitely treat.

We had a blast last night at Meadow Glens Assisted Living’s Community Trunk or Treat! Costumes, candy, and a whole lot of smiles. Nights like this are a good reminder of why we love being part of this community.

October 20 is World Osteoporosis Day, and it felt like the right moment to talk about something that doesn't get discussed enough: bone health.

As we age, bones naturally lose density, making fractures more likely from even minor falls — which is exactly why bone health and fall prevention go hand in hand. The good news is that a few consistent habits make a real difference: weight-bearing movement like walking, enough calcium and Vitamin D, and regular check-ins with a doctor about bone density if it's been a while.

Strong bones don't happen by accident. A little attention now goes a long way later.
