We are pleased to announce that the Tennessee Hospital Association (THA) Board of Directors has unanimously selected Will Cromer as THA’s incoming president and CEO following a national search.

Will, THA’s current executive vice president and chief operating officer, will begin his new role on January 1, 2027, succeeding Wendy Long, MD, MPH, who will retire at the end of 2026.

Since joining THA in November 2019, Will has played a key role in advancing the association’s work, drawing on his background in healthcare policy, finance, and strategy. His previous experience includes leadership roles with TennCare, Russell Street Ventures, and Gov. Bill Haslam.

Under Will’s leadership, THA will continue its commitment to supporting Tennessee hospitals and the communities they serve.

State Senator Richard Briggs brings decades of experience as a heart and lung surgeon and military veteran to his work for Tennessee hospitals.

A 2025 THA Hospital Hero, he champions greater accountability from health insurers and prior authorization reforms that reduce barriers to care. He also helped advance legislation protecting the 340B Drug Pricing Program and expanding physician employment flexibility for eligible hospitals.

When an emergency happens, care often begins before a patient ever reaches the hospital.

Across Tennessee, EMS teams provide more than 1 million patient transports each year, bringing lifesaving care directly to patients and helping connect them to the hospital teams ready to continue that care.

Recently, Covenant Health of East Tennessee brought together more than 60 EMS professionals from 18 counties for its inaugural EMS 9/11 Heroes Classic, recognizing the people who answer the call every day while raising more than $10,000 for EMS education and training.
