The day Regina received the call with her breast cancer diagnosis, everything changed. But before the call ended, our care team had already helped her understand the next steps, giving her hope. ๐Ÿ’—

Throughout surgery, chemotherapy and radiation, Regina found more than expert care. She found a team that listened, supported and treated her like family.

"One thing I loved was they told me, 'If you're ever feeling down and you can't find anyone to talk to, you can always call me.' And one day, I did."

Today, Regina is celebrating life beyond cancer and looking ahead to the goals she's set for her future. Her journey is a reminder of the importance of early detection. Annual mammograms remain one of the most effective tools for finding breast cancer early, when treatment is most successful.

Have you checked in with yourself lately? ๐Ÿฉท

As we recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month, remember that a monthly breast self-exam is a simple way to stay connected to your health. It only takes a few minutes and can help you stay in tune with changes in your body and seek medical care if something doesn't seem right. This should be done in addition to regular mammogram screenings for those 40 and older.

If you're due for a mammogram, we welcome you to schedule an appointment at our Breast Center: https://northmemorial.com/location/breast-center-robbinsdale/

One act of kindness can make all the difference. ๐Ÿ’™

After being discharged from North - Robbinsdale Hospital to a transitional care unit, a patient realized his specialized diabetic shoes hadnโ€™t accompanied him. These werenโ€™t just any shoes - they were costly, hard to replace and represented mobility and independence.

When Mark, a nurse manager on the unit heard, he took initiative and began searching for the lost shoes. When they were eventually located, Mark called the patient with the good news: his shoes and peace of mind were on the way. This gesture meant more than simply returning belongings. It reflected the compassion and attention to detail that define exceptional patient care, proving that even the smallest acts can make a lasting impact.

Community education is a powerful tool in the fight against breast cancer. ๐Ÿฉท

Throughout Breast Cancer Awareness Month, our community health worker, Angela, and our Community Care Management team are visiting clinics, breast centers, and community events to provide education, answer questions about breast health, and connect community members with vital screening resources.

By bringing trusted information and support directly into the community, Angela and this team are helping empower individuals to make informed decisions about their breast health and access the care and screenings they need.

A patient transport after a carbon monoxide exposure became a life-saving community response thanks to the quick thinking of two North EMS team members. ๐Ÿšจ

While facilitating the transfer, Captain Brandy and paramedic Jody recognized signs that others may have been exposed after returning to their apartment residence. By advocating for further investigation and sharing critical information, their vigilance set off a coordinated response involving the fire department, EMS and hospital partners that helped uncover an ongoing carbon monoxide hazard and ensured five patients received emergent hyperbaric treatment.

We're incredibly proud of Brandy, Jody, and all those who played a role in this response. Your commitment, leadership, and dedication to community safety make a difference every day. ๐Ÿ’™
