Today we honor the fathers, grandfathers, tíos, mentors, and father figures who’ve shaped our lives with love, protection, and quiet strength.🩵
We celebrate those who are present, those who have passed on, and those who stepped into the role without hesitation.🪽
For anyone missing their father or spending this day without one, know you are held in our hearts today and every day.🫶🏽
Thank you to the men who lead with love and leave a legacy we carry forever.

Masters of Arts in School Counseling at Montclair State University

What motivated you to pursue your degree?

My own personal experiences, paired with a natural drive to help students feel seen, heard, and supported, pushed me toward school counseling. Specifically in a high school setting, I wanted to be a positive presence in students lives.🫶🏽
What was the most memorable experience you had during your time within your program?

My most memorable experience has been connecting with different students during my internship. It reminded me of why this work is important.🫂
What are your career goals/future plans?

I plan to work as a school counselor at the high school level!📚
What advice would you give to someone starting this journey?

Graduate school can be overwhelming, but always remember your why! Be open to growth, lean into discomfort, and don’t be afraid to ask for help.☺️
I’m incredibly grateful to my family and close friends for their constant support! Their belief in me made all the difference!🤍

What motivated you to pursue your degree?

I pursued my MSW because so many people lack access to the right resources and support. I’ve always believed in the power of community, social work gave me the tools to turn compassion into action and create meaningful change.🙌🏽
What was the most memorable experience you had during your time within your program?

Helping a client by thinking outside the box taught me that sometimes you have to move around red tape to truly support the people you serve.❤️
What are your career goals/ future plans ?

I want to improve maternal and child health in vulnerable communities, especially Black maternal outcomes. I plan to get certified in perinatal mental health and support holistic birthing experiences. I’m also passionate about empowering youth, investing in them strengthens society.✨
What advice would you give to someone starting this journey?

Stay connected to your why, it’ll carry you through tough moments. Find mentors who inspire you and be patient with yourself as you grow.🫶🏽
I would like to thank my family and friends for believing in me even when I didn’t. And God, for guiding me every step of the way. That love and support meant everything.🫂

✈️MU TRAVEL MONDAYS✈️

Our chapter sister Lismely Garcia (FA’24) recently got the chance to visit her family in the Dominican Republic🇩🇴❤️
She went to spend a week enjoying family time celebrating her grandmothers 84th birthday party! Lismely also got the opportunity to go horse back riding, scuba diving, & even drove a motorcycle🤩

What motivated you to pursue your degree?

I’ve always known nursing was my calling, I just had to wait for the right moment! Back when I was an undergrad at Montclair, they didn’t offer a nursing program, but the dream never left. ✨
What was the most memorable experience you had during your time within your program?

Moving to a whole new state with my best friend was such a core memory! Along the way, I made lifelong friendships within my program that turned this journey into something even more special.🩵
What are your career goals/ future plans?

I’m excited to start my nursing career, keep growing my skills, and eventually become a nurse practitioner! 💉🌸
What advice would you give to someone starting this journey?

It’s never too late to chase your dreams! Trust yourself, stay focused, and remember why you started.🌟
I want to give the biggest shoutout to my parents for always believing in me, supporting my dreams, and cheering me on every step of the way. I couldn’t have done this without you! 🩷

What motivated you to pursue your degree?

My greatest motivation was my family and to prove to them and myself that anything is possible when you truly put your mind and heart in it.🌟
What was the most memorable experience you had during your time within your program?

It was the countless late nights of doing assignments and sacrificing my free time to study. All while working full time and being a mom of 3.☺️
What are your career goals/ future plans?

My future career goals are to grow in my field and to pass the CPA Exam📚
What advice would you give to someone starting this journey?

My advice would be is that here is time for everything if and when you prioritize accordingly!🫶🏽
A special shoutout to my husband for supporting me and pushing me to my limits but most importantly for initiating this goal in me❤️

🩵✨Sister Spotlight✨🩵

We are proud to spotlight a sister whose leadership, heart, and dedication have left an unforgettable mark, our Chapter President, Cristal Fuentes (SPR’23)!
She served our chapter and community with grace, from her role as Chapter President to her impactful positions as Greek Council Sergeant-at-Arms, Commuter Life Mentor, United Greek Coalition Treasurer, and more. No matter the hat she wore, she always led with integrity, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to unity❤️🦅
She gave her time selflessly, never asking for recognition, but always deserving of it. Her leadership inspired those around her to rise to the occasion, and she reminded us all of what it means to truly serve with purpose and love🫶🏼
Though she has graduated, her legacy continues to live on through the strength and bond of our sisterhood. She is the kind of leader who makes you feel seen, supported, and proud to be part of something greater🩵
