ARE YOU CARRYING SHAME?
Shame has a way of convincing us that we have to keep hiding.
It tells us…
If people really knew what I’ve done, they wouldn’t love me.
I should be further along by now.
God may forgive other people… but what I did was different.
But shame is not the same thing as conviction.
Conviction says, “What I did was wrong.”
Shame says, “There is something wrong with me.”
Recovery teaches us that we don’t have to keep carrying what Jesus already paid for.
We can bring our past into the light.
We can make amends where we need to.
We can receive forgiveness.
And we can stop allowing yesterday to define who we are today.
“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”
Romans 8:1
You may have a past… but your past does not get the final word.
What would change in your recovery if you finally laid down the shame?
