Were Child Anxiety & OCD specialists

Anxiety, Phobias, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder in kids can show up in big ways and leave families spiraling. Being parents ourselves we get that we can’t always prevent our kids from struggling, but we can give them the skills to thrive in the face of life's challenges. With skill building through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Exposure Response Prevention (ERP), we empower kids and parents to build a robust toolbox of science-backed strategies to conquer fears and reclaim their lives from anxiety and OCD. If You're Feeling Stuck Call Us, We Can Help

If you're feeling stuck us a call, we can help. At our practice, we focus on providing kids with the skills they need to manage life's challenges successfully. The therapy we provide focuses on teaching children to be aware of their own emotions, to notice and critically evaluate their thoughts and to employ adaptive behavioral strategies, mindfulness, and other self-soothing skills to help themselves remain grounded in difficult situations rather than getting swept away by worry or big emotions. Our team is playful, energetic, and collaborative, always finding fun, developmentally-appropriate ways to personalize treatment and connect with kids. We care deeply about helping families thrive and getting kids back to the stuff they care about. Parents Need Support Too

Parents need support too! The family environment is an important factor in children's behaviors and emotions. We get that anxiety not only bosses kids around but will often boss the whole family. Parents, we want to make life easier and so we offer both parenting group sessions and 1:1 parent consultation to provide you with the knowledge, tools, and confidence to support your child effectively. We’re here to help your family move forward with confidence.

Sometimes ERP means practicing how to sit with anxiety, disgust, and all the “ew, nope” feelings. 😂🦨🪲

For kids with OCD or anxiety, a small fear can quickly become a BIG one. A bug, the possibility of getting sick, something that feels contaminated, or even just not knowing what’s going to happen next can send their nervous system into overdrive.

That’s where Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) comes in.

Our job isn’t to convince kids that there’s nothing to be afraid of or grossed out by. It’s to help them practice staying with those uncomfortable feelings without letting OCD or anxiety make all the decisions.

We do that in manageable steps, often with a lot of playfulness along the way.

Because bravery isn’t about never feeling scared or grossed out.
It’s about learning, little by little: “I can handle this.”

Caring for others starts with making space to care for ourselves, too!

We had a great time painting pottery with the RBK team recently. Team events are always a chance to step away from the day-to-day, connect with one another, and have a little fun together.

We’re grateful for this team and the care they bring to work every day 💛

OCD doesn't always look the way you think it does. 💙

For some children, OCD looks like endless reassurance seeking. For others, it's intrusive thoughts they are too frightened or embarrassed to share. And for many, it's a daily struggle that goes unrecognized.

At Raising Brave Kids, we're passionate about helping families recognize OCD earlier and improving access to specialized, evidence-based treatment.

Children with OCD deserve more than awareness, they deserve effective care.

Save this post, share it with a parent or educator, and help us change the conversation about childhood OCD.

October 9th is PANS/PANDAS Awareness Day.

PANS stands for Pediatric Acute-onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome and PANDAS stands for Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal Infections.

For these children, the change can be sudden and dramatic.

Symptoms may include:

• OCD & intrusive thoughts
• Anxiety & mood changes
• Motor or vocal tics
• Rage & emotional dysregulation
• Food restriction or sudden food aversions
• Separation anxiety
• Regression or loss of skills
• Urinary frequency or new bed-wetting
• Sleep disruption
• Sensory changes
• Sudden school changes, including difficulty concentrating or changes in handwriting

PANDAS is associated with strep infections, while PANS may be associated with other infections or inflammatory processes.

If you think something like this may be happening with your child, seek medical guidance. The PANDAS Physicians Network offers helpful guidance for families and healthcare providers about evaluation and treatment.

If you’re in the Pacific Northwest, Northwest PANDAS/PANS Network is also a wonderful regional resource for families looking for informed support and providers.

These conditions can go unrecognized, while the impact on children and families can be enormous.

💛 Awareness matters. Families deserve to be believed, supported, and connected to informed care.

Please share to help more parents, educators, and providers recognize when a sudden change may deserve a closer look.

Therapy with kids is active, engaging, and skill-building — and sometimes, it looks a lot like play!

Games and toys help children practice important skills like flexibility, frustration tolerance, turn-taking, problem solving, emotional regulation, and brave behavior in a way that feels approachable and natural.

The goal isn't just to have fun. It's to create opportunities for kids to learn, practice, and build confidence in real time 👏
