Holden QiGong Simple Qi Gong Practices for More Balance, Vitality & Inner Peace
With Master Lee Holden | 35+ Years of Teaching Qi Gong

Ever feel there’s more to your body than meets the mind? For over 4 millennia men and women from the Far East have practiced a self-healing method that requires no strength, no effort, and very little time. It’s so safe that young children and the elderly use it even to this day. When used correctly, it circulates your life force energy through your body and activates your cells. As you feel this, your life force energy takes your
attention and brings it inward. As it grows, your mind connects to the present moment into total relaxation and calmness. This energy manipulation can be used to heal, strengthen, and nourish your body. Side effects may include: physical strength, emotional balance, deeper sleep, and better sex.

Carol had already been through more than a year of cancer treatment when she fell and injured her lower back.

Every day after the fall brought her pain. As the months passed, she worried she might never regain the strength and vitality she remembered.

It was so much worse that Carol’s doctor offered her a permanent disability parking permit. After months of daily back pain, she had every reason to accept it. Instead, she chose a six-month permit because she hadn’t lost hope that her body could change.

Then she tried one of Lee’s Qi Gong classes.

She started with tiny movements she could do from bed... and was standing by the end of the practice.

Another time, she planned to do a 20-minute class and then sleep to rest up... instead, at the end of the class, she felt more energized and ready to go.

She’d been practicing Qi Gong on and off for about three months when one Saturday... she woke up without back pain.

Full of excitement, she walked to the beach and back for about six-tenths of a mile.

She stood to make breakfast.

She did a twenty-minute lesson.

At the store, she parked in the regular lot, shopped, returned her cart, and carried two heavy bags home.

These were ordinary parts of a day that had become difficult to take for granted.

Not every issue was magically solved for her. She could still feel the sore spot, but it didn’t hurt. After going through so much pain, it gave her a successful moment to hold onto and a reason to keep moving toward the life she hoped was still possible.

If you want to bring your mind and body into more alignment, try this ancient Qi Gong exercise.

Master Lee Holden calls it Centering... because that’s exactly what it does.

Here is how you practice it:

Move your feet closer together and hold your hands in front of your belly, palms facing up.

Inhale and let one arm slowly float up over the sides until it’s up over your head.

Follow the movement of your hand with your eyes.

Now, exhale and bring the hand right down the midline.

Bring it all home to your center.

Then repeat it with your other arm.

Bring this calm, relaxed energy into your center.

Use it to bring your mind and body into alignment.

In harmony.

Try it for yourself today.

If you sit for more than 1 hour at a time, you are sitting too long.

They say sitting is the new smoking. For every hour you sit, do this simple exercise for 5 minutes, and your back will thank you.

Lee calls this Spinal Cord Breathing.

Here is how you do it:

Place your feet shoulder-width apart.

Inhale and open your chest.

At the same time, form wings with your arms and pull them back while you slightly lean back.

Then exhale as you round your back.

Tuck your tailbone under, draw your chin down, and lightly squeeze your glutes.

Bring your forearms together in front of you.

Inhale to open again.

Exhale to round.

Let your breath set the pace.

Even just a few rounds can help your back feel less stiff.

Try it out and let us know how you feel afterward.

Do you get tension or tightness in your upper back and neck (like most people)?

This is an area that tends to hold emotional stress for most people.

Let me show you an exercise that will help release tension and tightness and bring good circulation and energy to the upper back and neck, all the way down through your arms and hands.

This is called Spreading the Feathers.

Here’s what we’re going to do:

Sit (or stand) with your hands facing forward.

Take a deep breath, and bring your hands together in front of you.

Exhale, and rotate your palms over through your thumbs and straighten your arms.

Press your shoulders down, tuck your chin back and in, and see if you can already feel the stretch along these lines of tension.

Inhale, and spiral through your hands while pressing your shoulders down and bringing your chin back and in. Keep reaching your fingers toward the floor.

Now gently bring your ear toward your shoulder.

Take a deep breath, and feel that stretch.

This is called a line of tension. It’s great for releasing your upper back and neck, and the length of your arm.

Now come over to the other side:

Stretch ear to shoulder very gently.

Keep reaching your fingers toward the floor.

Take a deep breath, feel those lines in your upper back and neck stretching out.

Then bring your head up and relax.

That’s a quick little stretch that will help release tension from your upper back and neck, especially if you’ve been working on the computer for any long periods of time.

When Larry was 60, walking a few blocks was difficult. He weighed 305 pounds… and wanted his life to feel bigger than the distance he could manage on foot.

Then he saw Lee teaching Qi Gong on PBS.

Larry began practicing some form of it every day. He returned to the movements again and again, making Qi Gong part of how he lived.

Over time, a few blocks stopped being the limit.

Larry lost 125 pounds. He came close to the weight he had been in high school. And despite knee injuries, he reached a point where he could walk for miles.

Think about the difference between those two walks.

The first: a few blocks were hard.
The second: several miles were possible.

Larry credits his daily Qi Gong practice as part of that transformation, and he’s still practicing. At 60, he was struggling to walk a short distance. Now, as he puts it, “60 is just a mile post.”

Qi Gong master Lee teaches the Qi Ball as a way to become aware of your Qi.

This life force energy is in the space between the hands.

Hold the Qi ball and notice how much more power there is in your hands.

Gently pulse it back and forth.

Can you feel that?

Can you feel this electromagnetism in your hands?

Pay attention to any sensations you feel.

Remember, you are powerful, and when you do Qigong, you amplify and activate that inner power.

This simple 60-second practice will help you release neck and shoulder pain.

It’s called Spreading the Feathers. You can even do it sitting in a chair.

It goes like this:

Press your hands down and out to your sides.

Spread your fingers.

Now, slowly let one ear move toward your shoulder and feel the stretch along the other side of your neck.

Gently roll your head back as far as it feels comfortable.

Then slowly roll it forward to your chest.

Repeat this movement a couple of times.

Breathe slowly and deeply.

Next, roll your chin toward your chest and come over to the other side.

Keep your palms pressing down. Keep the movement slow.

Repeat the movement on this side.

When you’re ready, bring your head back up and let your arms relax.

What you just experienced is one simple exercise to let go of tension in your neck.

Sharon told us: “It is amazing how much better I feel after 5 days. It is interesting how quickly we can fall into depression without even realizing it’s happening. These practices have pulled me out of it enough to recommit to doing QiGong regularly.”

Chichi said: “Love Lee Holden Qi Gong! I had a complicated femur injury last year and had to re-learn how to walk! Now I’m Parting the Clouds, Silk Reeling, Holding Down the Sky and Shaking the Bones with the best of them!! 😍” (some of the trickier Qi Gong exercises)

Anne wrote: “The first practice day reminded me, why I loved Qigong. I had daily practice for many years until two strokes created chaos in my life and made me start many things from the beginning. I tried coming back to Qigong, but the way I had been used to - and I failed. Today, this easy practice of opening the lung meridians and simple movements for a short period of time brought back the joy. I felt deeply grateful and so alive.”

Kristi shared: “This was exactly what I needed. I’m going through a chaotic and stressful time, and both yesterday’s and today’s practice truly made a difference. Last night I was able to sleep better than I had in the past week, and felt more energetic today. Thank you!”

Renee messaged us: “It felt like all the breath work just came together today. I feel integrated, energized, focused. I had a transformative moment during the practice where I dared to let go of grief a little more and felt my family on the other side cheering me on! ✨ I have been part of several virtual communities since the pandemic, but never have I felt so held with such integrity.”

These are just some of the amazing stories we received throughout the challenge.

We love that you have so many questions about Qi Gong, let’s answer the first one...

Q1: Can something so simple really make a difference?
Absolutely, people have described feeling calmer, less tense, or more energized after just one session.

Q2: Do I need to be fit or flexible to do Qi Gong?
Not at all. Move in a way that feels comfortable for your body and helps you stay active.

Q3: What if I don’t get the movements right?
Qi Gong is not about being perfect. Lee guides you through all the movements and there is always room for questions at the end of a session.

Q4: Can I return to a class that felt especially good?
Yes, you can revisit classes in our online class library and make the ones you love part of your own rhythm.

Q5: How can I keep practicing?
The easiest way is to join us for our Qi Gong classes with Lee. We host three classes every week, and you can attend as many as you want and watch the replays anytime.

You can try it completely for free for one month.
