Back to Basics Holistic Health Start with the foundations. Understand your body. Know where to begin. Restoring health one body at a time! My own journey back to health began out of necessity.

I believe our bodies rely on wholesome foods, adequate nutrition, clean water, regular sleep, a connection to your spirit and a mostly positive emotional state in order for us to function well and remain healthy. Each of us faces daily challenges which, over time, contribute to an imbalance in one or more of these areas. Factor in our misguided belief that prescription medicines are for our benefit and quality of life...well then, you get the picture. You CAN regain your health and vitality one step at a time! I was so toxic from years of medicines and poor eating that my body finally revolted and got my attenetion by developing strong and nearly deadly allergic reactions to the most mundane and unexpected things. I had worked for years in the "traditional" medical world with pride. I wrongfully thought I played an important role in being part of a team to help people back to health. What was really happening? Every day, people came in, waited long waits, saw a Dr. who spent less than 10 minutes with them but ordered some type of test (blood, stress, urine etc) wrote a prescription or 3 or 5 and sent them out the door while the next one was being herded in. Day after day, week after week. And you know what? It was the same people week after week. If medicine was truly healing, shouldn't they be healed? One day I'd had enough. I quit. I was a single mom of 4 kids. I had no idea what I was going to do or how I would support my kids. I just knew that system of sick care wasn't working. So, a new life began for me in natural medicine. You don't have a prescription medicine deficiency. You have an immune system to protect you if you'll give it the chance. Know your foods. They aren't what you think they are. I hope you'll take away some pearls of wisdom from this page that will help you regain or remain in good health. I thank you for your support! If you like my page please feel free to share!

What the heck is going on???
My periods stopped and my body is changing!!!
Why does everything seem to change after menopause... even when YOU haven't changed anything?
You're eating the same foods.
You're exercising the same way.
But now your body seems to have a mind of its own.💯

Your waistline changes. 2 sizes larger! 😟
Your digestion isn't quite the same. Loose stool or constipation.😏
You don't recover from a busy day as easily. Achy, sore and worn out.🫩
The things that used to work for you don't seem to work anymore. Fasting, exercising, cutting carbs, eating keto....

Your body doesn't have the same needs at 55 or 65 that it had at 35.
As estrogen and progesterone levels shift, changes can occur in how we distribute body fat, maintain muscle, regulate temperature, and respond to insulin.💯
Those changes can affect much more than the number on the scale.👍

Things to consider:
Are you eating ENOUGH? I'll bet you don't!
Are you getting the right balance of protein, fats, and carbohydrates for your needs? I'll be you aren't!
Are you maintaining muscle? Maybe, but it's really hard!
How well are you sleeping? Sleep? What's that?
Are digestive issues interfering with your ability to eat comfortably and get the nutrients you need? Reflux, indigestion, burping, tooting, changes in bowel habits.

What worked for you 20 years ago won't be what works best for you today.❌

What did you notice that changed the MOST for you during or after menopause that you weren't expecting?🤔
For me....all of the above! ⬆️
How about you? Care to share?

Menopause.....what comes to mind when you read that word?🤔

Who taught you about menopause? Your mom? Your grandmother? 👵Your doctor?

Most of us learned about menstruation when we were young. I remember when I was in school, all of the 6th grade girls went to the auditorium to watch a movie about puberty and menstruation. It was awkward and presented in a way that was very clinical. 🩺 (ironically that day I went home and I had started my first period😅)
We weren't really taught about pregnancy and certainly not about childbirth at that time. And NOWHERE in any conversation was menopause ever mentioned. 🤫

For generations, it was barely discussed. Maybe someone mentioned hot flashes, night sweats, or the end of monthly periods.
What about what happens to the REST of our bodies?🧐
The changes in digestion.
The weight that suddenly seems to settle around our middle.
The loss of muscle strength.
The restless nights and waking up at 3 AM.
The brain fog, fatigue, and changes in how we handle stress.
The emotional transition from childbearing years to aging?
And what about our changing nutritional needs?

Menopause involves soooo much more than the end of our reproductive years. Hormonal changes can influence multiple systems throughout the body.
Many women reach this stage of life with very little understanding of what's happening.
I know I didn't have a clue!🙃
I think we deserve to know more about our bodies BEFORE these changes begin, don't you?

Who taught YOU about menopause?
What's ONE thing you wish someone had told you?

For me, I wish I I had been told the importance of supporting my digestion and minerals loooong before menopause came along!
What about you? 🫵

Today let's chat about the top nutritional deficiencies in people over the age of 50. Why? Because this is a BIG problem.💯
We don't realize it until a major health event happens like a heart attack, fractures or even cancer.😒
As we age, our appetite tends to decrease even though our nutrient needs increase. ⬇
There's something called “tea and toast syndrome,” which develops over time and a person’s diet degenerates into things like bread, crackers, and even canned meats. A lot of deficiencies can be created from this type of diet. 🫖🍞

A lot of folks also take synthetic vitamins. The first ingredient in many synthetic vitamins is calcium carbonate, which can be a problem. It lowers acid production in the stomach, it lowers iron absorption, interferes with zinc and phosphate (protects the kidneys).⬇⬇⬇
The older you get, the less stomach acid you’re going to have. Do you know what that means? It means you’re not going to be able to digest protein or pull in the amino acids from proteins, which are needed to help repair and heal the body. 💯
It will also be harder to absorb vitamin B12.
The top nutritional deficiencies in the over age 55 group are:
1. Vitamin D ☑️
2. Vitamin B1 ☑️
3. Potassium ☑️
4. Magnesium ☑️
5. Sodium ☑️
6. Trace minerals (especially zinc) ☑️
Look for a high quality WHOLE FOOD multivitamin.👍
I also highly recommend looking at your digestive situation with a simple questionnaire and have a hair tissue mineral analysis to discover EXACTLY what your unique needs are! 💯
What are you doing to support your nutritional needs as you age? 🤔

Being healthy doesn't mean you don't get "sick" or that you always appear "healthy". 🤓
"Illnesses" like colds, "flu" and other sickness are opportunities for your immune system to update. 💯
Through many manipulations in our environment (both physical and emotional), we are exposed to a variety of health altering substances that weaken our terrain. ⬇
Our "terrain" is the foundation/ground in which all of our protective organisms live.
In case you forgot, your terrain needs enzymes, minerals and vitamins specific to each persons unique needs. 😁
Besides supporting our terrain with vital nutrients, sometimes we need to "upload an update". That means we acquire the "new" manipulated bug so our immune system can develop the appropriate defense for future exposures.🛡️
Think of it this way, your cell phone doesn't operate at its optimum without periodic updates, your immune system doesn't either.
So, while "sickness" IS unpleasant, consider it a beneficial update to your operating system!👍
P.S. Shots do NOT offer the same protection. In fact, they CONTRIBUTE to the new manipulated bugs. Folks that get them shed for up to 21 days and spread the "sickness". 💉

Do you know what all of these medically named conditions have in common as the root cause? ❓
⬇ If you guessed "poor digestion and use of nutrients" you are 💯correct!
Not a SINGLE named dis-ease is the result of a harm-you-suitical deficiency. Not 1️⃣
All RX drugs WILL create more damage to an already damaged and toxic body that may take many months or years to recover from. 😵‍💫
Start assisting your body with the ability to effectively digest carbohydrates, protein, and fat. And balance your minerals! ✨
Once your body has those restored, there's no stopping your healing journey! 🥳

Unpopular opinion....There isn't a quick fix when it comes to your health. 😭
We've been conditioned to believe taking a pill 💊💉(or many pills) or shots will fix the uncomfortable situations (mental, emotional or physical) we may find ourselves in.
All of them interfere with enzyme pathways that thwart your body's attempt at healing. Basically, how drugs work is they tell your body to shut up and function anyway. 🩹
While one might appreciate the lack of symptoms for the moment, eventually the body will revolt and then there's a HUGE mess! ⚡️⛈
Healing takes time, effort and commitment. Healing doesn't follow a straight line ➖ and what might work for one person, may not work for another. 👶👩👨‍🦳👳‍♂️
It's said for every decade of age you are it takes at least that many months to restore health. (60 years old = 6 months of committed healing strategies). ✔️
There are SOOOOO many ideas from SOOOOO many sources as to what the "magic" thing is that will fix you. You'll spend thousands of dollars chasing those magic things. You may or may not get lasting results. 💲💱
The 3 most important (and simplest) considerations that are overlooked for healing are: 3️⃣
Your digestive capability. (Do you think your digestion is healthy because you p**p everyday?) It's not. ❌
Enzymes 🌿
Minerals 💫
We are ALL deficient in these 3 things.
Digestion: what you are eating, what you are breaking down, what you're absorbing, what your cells can use for repair and energy, and, can your body eliminate the waste effectively. ⭐️
Enzymes: Substances created in multiple areas of your body to assist with the breakdown, absorption and utilization of your foods.👍
Minerals: Substances provided by food (not water) for the proper function of every organ, gland and cell in your body. ✨
Are you SURE these 3 functions are balanced?❓

What's the number 1 reason you aren't well?
You probably won't like the answer but.....
it's...
You.🫵
Most folks are only looking for temporary relief, not long lasting health.

You can blame the food.🥕🐄🥑
You can blame the shots.💉
You can blame the government.💰
You can blame the current medical system.🩺
You can blame our trauma.😮‍💨
But in the end...your health is up to you.🫵

Nobody can make you:
Eat the right foods for your body🍽️
Manage your stress🧘‍♀️
Move your body🚶‍♀️
Get good quality sleep🛌
Heal negative emotions🤗
Make sure you're digesting and able to use your foods or supplements💩
Get your minerals checked and balanced✨
Open up your drainage pathways🌪️

We can talk about it all day long. 🕰️
You can take the newest "hot" supplement and use the latest "hot" gadget and you might get some temporary relief.
But...
Until your basic foundations are in order AND your minerals are balanced, that's exactly what you'll get....temporary relief.💯
It's up to YOU to do the foundational support.🧱

A1C.
Another test that gives a clear picture or another test based on faulty "normals"?
There's a lot of fear around A1C and I don't think there needs to be.
How did "science" arrive at what a "normal" range is? I'm glad you asked!

The Diabetes Control and Complications Trial was the foundational study that linked A1C percentages to health risks and established standard targets involving 1,441 volunteers.
The study did NOT include a large, lifespan-wide age range.
There were 1,441 participants with Type 1 diabetes.
The study focused specifically on adolescents and young to middle-aged adults, between the ages of 13 and 39.
The average age of participants at the start of the study was 27 years old.
Please NOTE the age range AND these are folks with Type 1 not type 2!

Now let's look at the studies done in the over 50 range:

The ACCORD Study (10,251 patients average age 62): This trial tested whether pushing A1C down to a "normal" range (under 6.0%) would prevent heart disease. Researchers found that aggressive treatment INCREASED the risk of mortality because it caused severe episodes of hypoglycemia.

The ADVANCE Trial (11,140 patients, all aged 55 or older) This study looked at pushing A1C down to 6.5%. It helped prevent minor kidney complications but did NOT lower the risk of major strokes or heart attacks.

The VADT (Veterans Affairs Diabetes Trial - 1,791 patients, average age 60): This study tracked older military veterans. It confirmed that aggressively forcing down A1C in older patients with a long history of diabetes provided minimal benefits and posed a high risk of dangerous, fainting-inducing blood sugar drops.

These trials completely shifted the paradigm of senior healthcare by proving two main points:
1. A1C naturally tends to rise with age (just like blood pressure). This happens due to age-related shifts in metabolism, insulin sensitivity, and natural variations in the lifespan of red blood cells.
2. Aggressive targets are dangerous for aging adults. For an adult in their 20s, an A1C of 6.5% signals a need for lifestyle adjustments or mild intervention. However, for a 75-year-old, trying to force that number below 6.5% using heavy medication can cause them to pass out, fall, or experience a cardiac event.

If you're aged 50-65+ the RECOMMENDED Healthy A1C Target Range is:
Healthy Under 7.0% to 7.5%
Moderate Health Under 8.0%
Very Poor Health Under 8.5%

Be sure you're eating enough calories and frequently enough on a daily basis
Be sure your enzyme activity is supported adequately. As we age we NEED enzyme support!
Move your beautiful body! Walk, stretch, lift weights.
Of course, minerals play a big role in maintaining your healthy body. Get them checked!

So, I'm curious....Is your doctor still pushing the
