I can still remember seeing the phone light up and knowing that I had to make a decision - did I want to leave tonight?
I ended up answering the call, grabbing my stuff, and heading out into a snowstorm with friends to Blue Mountain for a “pow day”. It was there that I met the person who would convince me to move to Western Canada.
15 years later, I’m constantly told “You are so good at what you do”. I am passionate about sharing the incredible experiences available in Alberta. This year I got to travel to Mexico and represent the Calgary Stampede and Alberta Tourism alongside partners that have become pals.
After working and exploring a bit of CMDX I popped over the ocean to soak up some sun and enjoy ocean views for a few days, reflecting on where I was at this time last year, only a few weeks before I was admitted to the hospital.
The last four years have been full of struggle and sadness as I realized the love I thought I had from my family was only based on my ability to stay healthy. Once I got sick, my parents told me I wasn’t welcome at the only home I’ve ever known.
Over the past four years I’ve found the community that encourages and supports me to continue building my best life, not the one my parents demanded of me but one that makes me happy and proud.
Now it’s time to head back home and head into the next winter season of the Rockies Adventure.
