Some of the best solutions to everyday barriers don’t come from a store. They come from a volunteer engineer who listens to what one person needs and builds it.

That’s what Tetra Society of North America does, and on October 20th at 7pm Halifax time, Lauren from their team will be joining us on Microsoft Teams to talk about how it works. She’ll cover how to put in a request, what happens between the idea and the finished device, and some of the more creative things they’ve built.

If you’ve ever thought “there has to be a better way to do this,” this is a good session to be at. Members, family, supporters, and healthcare professionals are all welcome, and there will be time for questions.

What if the thing you need doesn't exist yet? Tetra Society can likely build it!

Ever wished there was a simple fix for a daily barrier, a way to reach a shelf, hold a utensil, or operate a device? Tetra Society of North America makes those things happen. Their network of volunteer engineers and technicians designs custom assistive devices for people with physical disabilities, built around one person's specific needs.

Join Spinal Cord Injury Nova Scotia on October 20th for a live conversation with Lauren from the Tetra Society. She'll walk us through how it works from start to finish: how to make a request, how volunteers turn an idea into a working solution, and how to get connected with the program. She'll also share some of the most creative devices they've built over the years, and there will be time to ask questions.

This session is open to everyone: SCI NS members, family and supporters of someone living with a spinal cord injury, and healthcare professionals.

Spinal Cord Injury Nova Scotia is partnering with the Canadian Red Cross for a free webinar on disaster preparedness, with a specific focus on the needs of people with disabilities.

This topic feels especially timely. Recent wildfires across Nova Scotia and flooding in the West Hants region have shown how quickly an emergency can unfold, and how much extra planning is needed when mobility devices, medical equipment, medication, or personal care routines are part of daily life. A volunteer from the Red Cross will join us to present practical preparedness information and stay for a live Q&A, so bring your questions.

Who it's for: Open to SCI NS members, caregivers, family members, and healthcare professionals, as well as members from other Atlantic provinces.

When: Tuesday, September 15
Time: 7:00 PM
Where: Microsoft Teams (link sent after registration)

The session will be recorded, but we encourage everyone to join live if you're able to. Discussion and audience questions are a big part of what makes these sessions useful and fun!
