HOPE — Helping Other People Empower themselves.
That word came into my head this morning, and suddenly it meant something a little different.
H – Helping
O – Other
P – People
E – Empower themselves
Over the last few months, I’ve been doing a lot of reframing.
With the encouragement and training of the amazing Elliot Kay, I’ve been looking at my journey as a speaker and how I can take the experiences of my life and use them to inspire others.
The photo with Elliot Kay was taken at the Circle Networks conference in Birmingham last month, alongside another very important person in my life — my Uncle George McGillivray.
Then on Saturday, I had the privilege of watching George deliver his TEDx talk in Aberdeen. I went along to support him, but I came away inspired myself — not just by George, but by so many people who stood on that stage and shared their stories.
It was also great to catch up with my old Boss Bob Keiller who I talk about in my book A Wakening through life’s challenges he was part of the great TEDX team teaching and helping the speakers.
But inspiration is only part of it.
At some point, you have to take action.
I’ve been incredibly busy rebuilding websites, developing Digital Derek, moving into new premises, developing my speaking work, networking, attending meetings and exploring some fantastic opportunities.
And then you look at the diary and remember something very important…
I’m also running a business! 😂
I still have bills to pay and, more importantly, people to help. It’s been great taking that time out but back to serving my clients this week!
So while I’m excited about where my speaking journey is taking me, I’m still very much A Happy Medium — offering readings, coaching, hypnotherapy, personal development and one-to-one support, both face-to-face in Elgin and online.
I haven’t given that up!
And perhaps that’s where HOPE fits into everything I do.
Have hope.
Give hope.
Take action.
Help Other People Empower themselves.
There are exciting developments too. This Thursday at 1pm, I’m delighted to be hosting Circle Network Scotland Central, where we’ll be joined by two excellent speakers talking about AI, business, knowledge and the opportunities ahead.
Speaking, coaching, mediumship, personal development, networking, Digital Derek — they may look like different parts of my life, but I’m beginning to realise they all come back to the same thing:
Enlightening others to succeed through life’s challenges.
