🎄 Is it too early to start thinking about Christmas?

Well, since I'm already seeing little sprinkles of Christmas popping up everywhere, and I've just finished blending my Seasonal Essential Oils, I thought I'd join in!

And that means The Little Christmas Duo is back!*☃️

I've teamed up again with Mockingbird Makes to bring you this lovely little festive pairing. Each duo includes one of their handmade Snowman decorations and a 5ml Made by Pure Hands Seasonal Essential Oil Blend.

You can choose from three of my festive favourites:

🍊 Mulled W**e – All the lovely smells of homemade mulled w**e, without having to drink it! Although I do enjoy a glass or two.

🎄 Christmas – My warming, spicy blend inspired by the winter massage oil I use in clinic.

🌲 Winter – For those of us who love the smell of pine trees at Christmas. I can't get enough of this one!

Perfect for Secret Santa, stocking fillers, a little gift for someone special or even yourself.

They're now available in the Made by Pure Hands shop.

🎄 It's beginning to smell a lot like Christmas!

My house has been smelling rather Christmassy over the last couple of weeks as I've been busy blending my Seasonal Essential Oil Collection.

🎄 Christmas is always a popular choice, but in previous years 🌲 Winter has been the one everyone wants.

Could this year be all about 🍊 Mulled W**e? Who knows!

All three blends are now ready and available to purchase from the Made by Pure Hands shop.

Whether you love the warming spices of Christmas, the fresh, woody scent of Winter or the citrusy, spicy aroma of Mulled W**e, there's something to bring a little festive cheer into your home.

So, which one would you choose?

I’m hearing from lots of people who have succumbed to the dreaded cold or flu since September. In my mind, it seemed like more than in recent years.

Well surprise surprise, I wasn’t imagining it!
UKHSA figures show September’s flu activity in England was higher than during the same period in the previous four seasons, although overall levels remained low.

Every year, I’m asked which essential oils I recommend. Alongside my own blends, here are some favourites I reach for during cold and flu season:

🌿 Eucalyptus Globulus – The original OG! A classic ingredient in many cold remedies.

🌿 Niaouli – I wasn’t keen on its scent during my aromatherapy studies, but now this relative of tea tree is a staple for me.

🌿 Frankincense – A household favourite, particularly with my son dealing with rhinitis.

🌿 Ravensara – Used in aromatherapy for a range of concerns, it’s one I like to include in my self-care when I’m dealing with a viral infection. You’ll also find it in my Christmas blend.

🌿 Lemon or Lime – Both have a bright, refreshing citrus scent. I find lime sweeter and more uplifting, so that’s my choice for a mood boost. But when I’m feeling unwell, I turn to good old lemon.

There are plenty of other essential oils I turn to during cold and flu season, but these are always my staples.

Prefer a ready-made blend? You’ll find some of mine in the Made by Pure Hands shop.

In part two, I’ll share how I use steam inhalation, diffusers and inhaler sticks.

My November calendar is now open and there are a few appointments left for this month too.

So if you need me to sort out your aches and pains, or you just need a moment to unwind, this is your friendly reminder to book your next appointment.

I’ve been hiding from socials a little this week, but with World Menopause Day this Sunday, 18 October, and this year’s theme being Chronic Pain at Midlife, I felt I needed to share my thoughts.

This subject is close to my heart, both as a massage therapist and a menopausal woman. I’ve learnt so much since my early days in clinic, through supporting clients and navigating my own experience of pain and menopause. It’s why I wrote a blog about it two years ago.

These days, I feel I’ve got my personal self-care routine down to a tee. There’s been plenty of learning and adjusting along the way, but I now have a better understanding of what helps me.

Yesterday, I was at the sauna and had four quick cold plunges. I know there’s been lots of debate about cold-water immersion. As a bodywork therapist, hot and cold therapy is something we’ve been discussing for years, so the idea is familiar to me. For me, it’s one part of a much bigger self-care picture.

There are plenty of other things that have helped me, and I share them in my blog. I wrote it because I wanted my experience to support others too.

If pain has become part of your experience of midlife, I hope you’ll find something useful in it. 💚

Today is World Mental Health Day, and yesterday Marvellous Me Massage and I delivered a day of chair massage for some lovely nursery staff who had booked us as part of their World Mental Health Day activities.

It was a chance for them to step away from their busy day, release some tension and have a little time for themselves.

And this was the reason for yesterday’s post! Because if we were knackered, those lovely staff must be permanently knackered with all the babies and little ones in their care. 😂

If you too are struggling to make time for your mental wellbeing, this is your friendly reminder to make time to pause this month.

Marvellous Me Massage, I hope you’re recovering. As for me, I’m taking it easy this weekend.

I've just completed a day of chair massage, and I’m knackered, happy and in need of a lie-down.

I don't even know which oil I need. 😂

Actually, I need to go and swipe a Think Clearly rollerball.

What blend do you need going into the weekend?

Cold and Flu season is well and truly here.
Now, I am all for heading to the pharmacy to ease symptoms, but don't forget about these natural ingredients too (as well as your essential oils).

We're already got my IS blend diffusing in the house and I don't go anywhere without my inhaler stick version.
