💊 Calling pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, healthcare professionals, and allied healthcare professionals! How confident would you feel answering this clinical question?

If a patient takes both HRT and GLP-1 medication, does their oral progesterone dose need to change?

It’s a useful reminder that menopause care can raise complex questions, and having access to reliable, evidence-based guidance matters. Staying informed helps healthcare professionals make better-informed decisions and support their patients with greater confidence.

That’s why MREF is offering two CPD-accredited courses this November:
📅 19 November | Menopause 101 for Pharmacists & Pharmacy Technicians
4 CPD points.

📅 26 November | Menopause 101 for HCPs & Allied HCPs
8 CPD points, covering the fundamentals through to managing complex cases.

Both courses are online, with recordings available to watch later. Donations also help fund vital menopause research, supporting the evidence needed to improve care.

Every woman deserves access to menopause care that meets her needs. But is that happening in practice?

Our survey found that White women and women from higher socioeconomic backgrounds were more likely to receive vaginal oestrogen treatment than women from other ethnic and socioeconomic groups.

These differences matter. They raise important questions about who receives treatment, who may be missing out, and how we can make menopause care fairer for everyone.

We need more evidence-based research to understand these gaps and improve care. With greater investment in menopause research, we can build a stronger evidence base to help guide better, more equitable support.

Some experiences can be hard to put into words, especially when it comes to our mental health during menopause.

Diane Danzebrink of Menopause Support, psychiatrist Dr Sophie Behrman, and the Menopause Research & Education Fund (MREF) are working together to better understand women’s experiences during perimenopause and post-menopause, including the sensitive topic of suicidal thoughts.

Every woman’s experience is different, and there is still so much we need to understand. Through evidence-based research and greater investment in menopause research, we can help build a clearer picture of what women may be going through and how support can be improved.

If you feel comfortable doing so, we’d be grateful if you could share your experiences through this survey. Your voice may help shape a better understanding for others, too.

Let’s talk menopause supplements for vasomotor symptoms! 💊

Do you know which, if any, have good evidence behind them? Are there any you could stand behind when you recommend them to patients?

Our Q&A highlights a common question consumers ask - are there non-hormonal options that could help? If you don't know or are unsure then our upcoming, CPD-accredited courses are for you.

“Have a glass of wine.” “Try to relax.” “Have a cup of tea.”

If you’ve ever spoken to a woman about painful s*x during menopause, you might recognise some of this advice. But imagine reaching out for help with something so personal, only to feel that your concerns haven’t really been heard.

Our survey highlights the experiences of women navigating painful s*x, including the advice they’ve received from healthcare professionals. It raises an important question: Are we giving women the support they need, or simply expecting them to put up with it?

Painful s*x can affect so much more than intimacy. It can influence confidence, relationships, and overall wellbeing. Women deserve to be listened to, taken seriously, and offered support informed by evidence, not assumptions.

That’s why menopause research matters. With better evidence and more funding, we can build a clearer understanding of women’s experiences and help improve the care available to them.

Let’s keep listening, learning, and supporting the research that can make a difference.

Talking about painful s*x can be difficult, even with someone we love. But when embarrassment, fear of being a burden, or worries about a relationship get in the way, women may end up facing these challenges in silence.

Our Menopause and Sexual Health Survey found that 55% of women had discussed painful s*x with their partner, meaning many had not. Behind that figure are real experiences that deserve to be heard, understood, and taken seriously.

This is why menopause research matters. We need stronger evidence to understand women’s experiences, improve healthcare, and help ensure support and treatment are fair and accessible to all.

Read the full report to explore the findings and why change is needed: https://mref.uk/press-release-s*xual-health-survey/

With greater awareness, evidence-based research, and funding, we can help make sure fewer women feel they have to suffer in silence.

Pharmacists can be an important part of someone’s menopause journey, often helping to make sense of symptoms, treatments, and the questions that can be difficult to ask.

But good support starts with having the right knowledge and evidence to guide those conversations.

On 19 November, join MREF for Menopause 101 for Pharmacists, an online session bringing together experienced specialists to share practical, evidence-based menopause education.

Menopause can bring changes that go beyond the physical, affecting how women feel, their confidence, and their day-to-day well-being.

Yet, there’s still so much we need to understand about the connection between menopause and mental health.

That’s why menopause research matters. With more evidence-based research and dedicated funding, we can better understand women’s experiences and help shape the support they need.

We’re inviting you to take part in our mental health survey. If you have a few minutes to spare, your contribution could help build a better understanding of this important area.

Take part here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ZRSRLMN

The survey is open to people across the globe

Thank you for helping us move menopause research forward.

The best part of menopause education is hearing how much it means to the people who take part.

The feedback from our previous Menopause Education Day reminds us why these conversations matter. When healthcare professionals have access to reliable, evidence-based information, they’re better equipped to support women through menopause with greater understanding and confidence.

We’re looking forward to bringing professionals together again for our Menopause Education Course on 26 November 2026.

There’s still so much to learn about menopause and its impact on long-term health and working lives. That’s why evidence-based education and funding for menopause research are so important.

📅 Join us online from 9 AM to 5 PM, or catch up later on demand.

We’d love for you to be part of it.
