Taking painkillers to mask the pain?

A varied caseload means no two patients are exactly the same. We treat a wide range of musculoskeletal problems and specialise in manual therapy as an important part of our approach.

Maybe you’ve even had previous Physiotherapy, but you’re still struggling with the same problem?

I understand you may be sceptical, but we have a different approach and utilise specialist designed screening process' to find the root cause of your issue.

Our experienced Physiotherapists also use a range of specialised manual therapy techniques to help reduce pain, improve joint and soft-tissue mobility and restore your range of movement.

By improving how you move and reducing your symptoms, we can then start to build a bespoke rehabilitation plan designed specifically around you.

We don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. We take the time to understand your injury, your lifestyle, your goals and what you want to get back to doing.

Our aim is to treat the individual, find the cause, not just treating the painful area.

If you’ve been putting up with pain and hoping it will disappear, it might be time to take action.

No pain doesn’t mean you’re injury-proof.

Can you pass all 3?

Most injuries don’t come out of nowhere. They build quietly, with a hip that doesn’t control well, a knee that drifts inwards or an ankle that’s lost movement. Your body works around it until one day it can’t.

Swipe through and try our 3 quick movement checks 👉

Do them on both sides. Struggled with one, or noticed one side is much worse?

That’s really useful to know. It shows where your movement is breaking down, and that’s often where the next injury starts.

Manual therapy isn't just a 'nice massage'

Some people say exercise is all you need.

Exercise is essential, but if a joint is locked or every movement hurts, it’s hard to exercise well.

That’s where skilled hands-on treatment earns its place.

Manual therapy can:

✅ Calm pain so you can move again
✅ Free up stiff joints in the spine, ribs, hips, knees and shoulders
✅ Ease tight, overloaded muscles
✅ Help irritated nerves glide and settle
✅ Make your exercise work better

But hands-on treatment on its own is only half the job.

If the movement problem that caused your pain is still there, the pain comes back.

We use manual therapy to get you moving. Then we fix why the problem started, with targeted rehab in our fantastic gym space. Hands on first, then hands off, so the results last.

Been told to “just do your exercises” and still struggling?

Let’s get you moving properly.

Had rib pain for weeks, and rest and massage haven’t fixed it?

That usually means the real cause hasn’t been found yet.

Rib pain is rarely just a rib problem.

It often comes from a stiff mid-back, the neck, the rib joints, tight muscles or an irritated nerve. Often it’s more than one of these at once.

If only the sore spot gets treated, the relief lasts a few days and then the pain comes back.

We look at why the pain started, not just where it hurts. We then fix the cause so it stays gone.

Pain at the front of your ribs or chest that just won’t settle?

Once you have confirmed that it is not cardiac related, it's important to understand what other structures can cause anterior chest pain.

It isn’t always coming from the ribs themselves.

Nerves can often be responsible.

The nerves that supply the front of your chest start in your neck. They travel down through the shoulder complex, passing under the collarbone and the chest muscles, until they reach the front of the chest. If they get irritated or compressed anywhere along that route, you can feel pain in your chest and ribs.

Many of these nerves come from the brachial plexus, a network formed by the nerve roots of the lower neck and upper back. It branches out to supply the shoulder, the chest and the arm.

That’s why just treating the sore spot rarely works.

To fully resolve the pain, you must treat:

The muscles around the chest
The surrounding joints of the ribs, spine and shoulder
The nerves along their whole path including the neck and shoulder

We’ll also look at how you move to find out why the problem started, so it doesn’t keep coming back.

Shoulder Pain?

Are random exercises from the internet making your shoulder pain worse?

We see it all the time.

Someone has a sore shoulder, finds a set of exercises for impingement online and pushes through them. But if the shoulder is irritated, the wrong exercises at the wrong time can keep the pain going, or even make it worse.

Getting better is about doing the right things in the right order:

Get a definitive diagnosis. You need to know exactly what’s going on before you start treating it.

Shoulder impingement is common but we also see a lot of other shoulder pathologies. Don't just guess and make things worse.

Settle the pain. Hands-on manual therapy helps calm the irritated tissues, ease pain and restore movement.

Then strengthen. Once the pain has settled, we build up strength with exercises that are right for your shoulder, not someone else’s.

Skip a step or do things in the wrong order, and your pain is likely to continue.

We’ll also look at how you move to work out why the problem developed in the first place, so it doesn’t keep coming back.

Back pain that won't ease up?

Had previous treatment on your back but your pain didn't improve?

It might be coming from your hip.

Your hip is built to move in lots of directions: forwards, backwards, out to the side and rotating in and out. It's designed to take a big share of the load every time you walk, bend, twist or lift.

But when your hip gets stiff and its range of movement is poor, that load doesn't just disappear. It often gets passed up to your lower back, which ends up moving more and working harder than it should.

Over time, that extra strain can keep your back pain going, no matter how much you treat the back itself.

Treating the hip could be the missing piece.

Assess how your back and hips move together may be the key here, then use a combination of hands-on treatment, mobility work and targeted strengthening to restore movement at the hip and take the pressure off your back.

Treat both areas, and you give yourself the best chance of getting rid of your back pain for good.

ACHILLES PAIN?

Don’t just leave it and hope it settles.

Achilles tendinopathy rarely starts with a sudden onset. It begins as a little soreness first thing in the morning. You get running, it eases off, and you think you’re fine.

Then you start to feel it during the run. You can still get through it, but it’s there.

Left untreated, it will hurt for the whole run and eventually stop you running.

Don’t just leave it and hope it settles.

You need a definitive diagnosis and the right treatment for the irritated tendon.

It’s no good starting a generic loading programme off the internet if the tendon is aggravated, it will only make things worse.

First, we settle the inflamed tendon or paratenon (the sheath that surrounds the tendon). Then we build up appropriate loading to get it strong again.

We don’t just treat the sore tendon either, we assess your movement to work out why you developed Achilles tendon pain in the first place, then we correct that dysfunction so it doesn’t keep coming back.
