Before you start another diet tomorrow, remember that Monday is not a magical fresh start.

You don't need to spend another week restricting, depriving yourself or trying to change your body.

You deserve to nourish your body, enjoy food and feel at peace with eating every day of the week.

Monday doesn't need to be another day of starting over. Feel free to reach out for support or DM me.

Guilt has its place, but it doesn't belong in your relationship with food.

Guilt can be an appropriate emotion when we've caused harm or hurt another person. But eating a particular food, enjoying something you love, eating more than you intended or going back for seconds is not something you need to feel guilty about.

Food is not a moral issue.

You are not good because you eat certain foods, nor are you bad because you eat others.

You don't need to earn your food, compensate for it or punish yourself for eating it.

It's time to take morality out of eating and allow food to simply be food.

You haven't done anything wrong by eating.

“But I’m eating again!!! So why do I still feel trapped by my eating disorder?”

Because recovery isn’t just about eating.

You can be eating more, functioning better and appearing “well” to everyone around you while still living with intense fear, guilt, rules and preoccupation around food and your body.

This is sometimes referred to as quasi-recovery.

And if this sounds familiar, it doesn’t mean you’re failing.

It may simply mean that your recovery needs to go deeper than the behaviours.

You deserve a life where food takes up less space in your mind, not just a life where you look like you’re “better.”

Am I addicted to food?

If you often feel out of control around food, experience guilt after eating, or find yourself constantly thinking about food, I invite you to pause and gently ask yourself:

Am I giving my body enough food?

Am I restricting certain foods or following strict food rules?

Am I allowing myself to eat what I want without feeling guilty?

Do I feel that I have to earn my food or make up for what I have eaten?

Sometimes, what feels like being addicted to food may be connected to restriction, deprivation and the rules we have created around eating.

When we tell ourselves we cannot have certain foods, we can become more preoccupied with them. When we don't eat enough, our bodies may respond with stronger hunger and urges to eat.

This isn't a lack of willpower. Your body may be responding to unmet needs, and your relationship with food may need compassion rather than more control.

Recovery isn't about learning to control food more tightly. It's about building a relationship with food where you can nourish your body, honour your hunger and enjoy eating without being consumed by guilt.

What if, instead of asking, "Why can't I control myself around food?" you began asking, "What might I need that I'm not allowing myself to have?"

How many of these food rules feel familiar?

Maybe you've skipped meals to save calories for later.

Maybe you've felt guilty about eating chocolate, or believed you needed to exercise to make up for it.

Maybe you've spent years believing that being “good” with food means following a set of rules.

But what if you gave yourself permission to question them?

You don't have to get everything perfect.
You don't have to earn your food.
And you don't have to feel guilty for enjoying it.

Unlearning food rules is about creating more flexibility, understanding your needs and building a relationship with food that feels kinder and more peaceful.

You are allowed to write a new set of rules or perhaps learn that you don't need so many rules at all.

Which one resonates with you most?
