AṠOM YOGA ASOM YOGA - a portmanteau of Agni + Shakti + Aum

10/30/2026

The older I get, the more I realize that the most important things I’ve learned about life did not come from a digital display.

They came from living.

From relationships.

From loss.

From joy.

From mistakes.

From practice.

From moments that changed me.

And that realization is at the heart of AŠOM YOGA.

Agni. Shakti. Om.

Together, they point toward why we are here.

We are here to experience.

We are here to learn.

We are here to transform.

And we are here to creatively express what lives within the heart.

Agni is transformation.

Life changes us through direct experience. We learn not only from ideas or teachings, but from what we actually live.

Shakti is creative energy.

It is the force through which consciousness becomes expression: through art, movement, relationships, service, music, dance, love, and the lives we create.

Om reminds us of the greater field of consciousness within which all of this unfolds.

Together, they describe the divine play of being human.

We are born into families, and throughout our lives we also create chosen families: communities of people who see us, support us, challenge us, celebrate us, and help us remember who we are.

That is why community matters so much.

The spiritual path is not only about reading sacred texts or accepting someone else’s beliefs.

It is about direct experience.

Going inward.

Listening to the heart.

Engaging with life.

Expressing yourself authentically.

And discovering the Divine through your own experience.

That is what I hope ASOM YOGA inspires.

A return to the heart.

A willingness to transform.

The courage to express.

And communities where people can feel safe enough to be seen, move, dance, connect, and grow.

That is also why I’m so grateful for spaces like The Womb and communities centered around genuine connection.

Because sometimes we come to know ourselves—and perhaps even God—through the way we learn to truly see one another.

What experience in your life has transformed you more than any book or teaching ever could?

Good morning from The Womb! ✨

I love this space.

Alexis and Vanessa have created something warm, beautiful, welcoming, and full of intention. I feel incredibly grateful to be able to teach here, offer workshops and satsang, and yes… enjoy some absolutely incredible dance parties too. 😄

This morning, I want to share a little about ASOM YOGA.

The name itself carries the philosophy of the practice.

A — Agni

Agni is the Sanskrit word for fire.

At its most physical level, fire transforms.

But within fire is light.

And within light is something even subtler: intelligence, illumination, and the capacity to reveal what was previously unseen.

So Agni represents transformation—not simply changing who we are, but burning through what obscures what is already true.

Ś — Shakti

Shakti is energy.

In the ta***ic traditions, consciousness and energy are inseparable.

Stillness and movement.

Awareness and expression.

The Divine and the energy through which the Divine becomes manifest.

Within the Śrī Vidyā tradition, this creative power is understood as the Divine Mother.

OM — Primordial Sound

A-U-M.

Creation.

Sustaining.

Dissolution.

And then…

Silence.

The space from which everything arises and into which everything eventually returns.

Together:

Agni. Shakti. Om.

Transformation.
Energy.
Consciousness.
Sound.
Silence.

That is ASOM YOGA.

It is not simply about moving the body.

It is a practice of discovering what is beneath the movement, beneath the thoughts, and beneath the stories—so we can experience ourselves with greater clarity, presence, and awareness.

And we’re just getting started.

Which part resonates most with you: Agni, Shakti, or Om?

Leave a comment below and tell me why. 🔥✨🕉️

Sometimes cutting the cord is the easy part.

The harder part is choosing not to pick it back up.

A friend recently reached out to me for help with a cord-cutting ceremony. We worked with intention, Palo Santo, and selenite as symbolic tools for releasing an energetic connection that had created a lot of stress.

But the ritual itself is only part of the work.

Because the mind remembers.

It craves.

It reaches toward what feels familiar—even when what feels familiar does not actually serve us.

Sometimes we crave being seen.

Sometimes we crave connection.

Sometimes we hold onto a relationship because it once felt like family, belonging, or home.

And that is where discernment becomes so important.

We can create an entire story around why we should hold on while something quieter inside us has been saying all along:

**This is not right for me.**

The body often knows before the mind is willing to accept it.

That tightness.

That uneasiness.

That feeling that something is out of alignment.

The danger is that our desire for connection can become so strong that we begin betraying ourselves to preserve it.

This is one reason practices like yoga and meditation matter so much to me.

They teach us how to sit with ourselves.

How to notice craving without immediately acting upon it.

How to become quiet enough to distinguish between what we *want* and what is actually *true*.

And sometimes maintaining our peace is less about cutting someone else away and more about refusing to abandon ourselves.

A ritual can mark the decision.

But we still have to live the decision.

**Where in your life are you being asked to choose your peace over something that simply feels familiar?**

Leave a comment below. You never know who may need to hear that they’re allowed to choose themselves too. ✨

Great news: my dad is out of the hospital. 🙏🏽

He was there from Sunday through Tuesday, had the abscess drained, received antibiotics, and is finally back home.

And I’m really grateful.

One of the biggest lessons from this experience has been the importance of self-advocacy.

My dad was in a lot of pain, and the initial pain medication simply wasn’t working well for him. That became a reminder that even when there are standard medical protocols, every person responds differently.

What works for one body may not work the same way for another.

So we have to speak up.

Ask questions.

Describe what we’re experiencing.

Say when something isn’t working.

And keep participating in our own care.

My dad tends to be the kind of person who will quietly tolerate discomfort, but this time he spoke up. After some discussion, his care plan was adjusted, and he is doing much better.

Now comes the next phase: recovery.

Physical therapy starts at home, and I was really happy to hear that he has already started walking and doing some of the exercises he was given.

That matters.

Because after pain, illness, or a loss of independence, it can be tempting to retreat.

Sometimes recovery asks us to move carefully toward the very thing that feels difficult.

Not recklessly.

Not by ignoring pain.

But with support, patience, responsibility, and the willingness to keep taking the next step.

For my dad, I think this experience reminded him how valuable his independence really is.

And sometimes that realization becomes motivation.

I’m grateful he’s home.

I’m grateful he’s resting.

And I’m grateful to see him beginning to participate actively in his own recovery.

Where in your own life do you need to advocate for yourself more clearly—or take greater ownership of your next step?

Leave a comment below. I’d love to hear what self-advocacy looks like for you. ❤️

Earlier today, my dad was admitted to the hospital.

He’s recovering from two significant back surgeries and now dealing with an abdominal abscess. The good news is that the surgical site and hardware appear to be healing well, and he’s getting the care he needs.

But seeing someone you love in pain changes your perspective.

While I was with him, I noticed how much tension he was holding. His breathing was shallow, his body was guarded, and his mind was understandably focused on the pain.

So I did what I could.

I helped him slow his breathing.

I stayed present.

I offered Reiki as a spiritual practice of support.

At one point, I simply held his feet while encouraging him to breathe and rest. I watched his body begin to soften.

And it reminded me of something important:

Sometimes love is not fixing the situation.

Sometimes love is helping another person feel safe enough to rest.

Sometimes it is holding a hand.

Taking a breath together.

Sitting quietly.

Being there.

We spend so much of life assuming there will be another conversation, another visit, another opportunity to say what needs to be said.

But our time with one another is precious.

Tonight, I’m grateful that my father is receiving care, and I’m hopeful he’ll be home soon.

Take a moment today and think about someone you love.

How can you show up for them—not someday, but now?

Leave a comment below and share one way you can be more present for someone who matters to you. ❤️

I’m in Denver, ready to go home after a full work week, but my heart is still with Shadow.

She passed about 10 days ago after 18 and a half years by my side.

Her decline happened quickly at the end. Cats are incredibly good at hiding pain, and looking back, there were signs that her body had been changing for some time. But in those final days, it became clear that she was dying.

And letting her go has been hard.

Eighteen and a half years is a long time to share life with another being.

Shadow taught me a lot about love.

Not just the easy kind of love.

Not just loving someone because they are cute, convenient, or make life better.

She taught me about commitment.

About showing up.

About patience.

About attention.

And honestly, she could be a pain in my ass. 😂

But usually, what she wanted was simple:

My attention.

My presence.

My love.

And I’ve come to believe that attention is one of the highest expressions of love we can give another being.

I miss her dearly.

But more than anything, I am grateful.

Grateful for the years.
Grateful for the lessons.
Grateful for every ridiculous moment.
Grateful that I had the privilege of loving her for almost two decades.

I like to believe that I gained another angel, and that somewhere beyond what I can currently see or understand, we will meet again.

If you’ve lost someone you love — a person, a companion animal, anyone who became part of your heart — take a moment today to remember them.

What did they teach you about love?

Leave their name, a memory, or the lesson they left you with in the comments.

Let’s honor them together. 💖

Tonight at The Womb, we gather for the Sri Vidya Circle. ✨

Our conversation will explore the Yamas —the first five ethical principles described in Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras and the first limb of Raja Yoga.

But these teachings are much more than philosophy.

They are an invitation to examine how we live.

How do we treat others?
How do we speak?
How do we relate to ourselves?
Are our thoughts, choices, and actions aligned with the heart?

The Yamas point us toward principles such as nonviolence, truthfulness, integrity, moderation, and non-grasping.

In modern language, we might talk about wanting “good energy” or “good vibes.”

But cultivating that energy requires practice.

It requires awareness.

It requires choosing, again and again, to bring our thoughts and actions into greater alignment with love, truth, and consciousness.

When we begin living this way, we create greater space for steadiness, clarity, and peace within ourselves.

Next month, we’ll continue the journey with the Niyamas and explore the inner disciplines of the spiritual path.

But tonight, we begin with the Yamas.

Come for satsang.

Come open.

Come curious.

Come exactly as you are.

And leave with a full heart. ❤️

Join us tonight at The Womb for the Sri Vidya Circle.

If you’re coming, leave a 🙏🏽 or “I’ll be there” in the comments below. I’d love to know who I’ll be sharing space with tonight.

Sometimes the reset you didn’t know you needed shows you how much chaos you had normalized.

This is what preparation looks like before the big show.

In a little over two hours, I’ll be on stage with more than 120 people registered and a full room.

I’m excited to make an impact.

But what has impacted me most lately was my trip to Japan.

It gave me a reset and slowdown I didn’t realize I needed.

Tokyo awakened my inner child. I went to Disneyland for the first time since I was 11, and at 45, I found myself completely fascinated by the imagination, technology, storytelling, and creativity of it all.

But the deepest part of the trip happened when I slowed down.

I stayed at a traditional Japanese ryokan surrounded by nature.

Daily yoga.
Long walks.
Temples.
Nourishing meals.
Hot springs.
Very little technology.
No email.

I could simply be.

And then I came home.

The intensity of re-entry made me realize how much friction we can normalize in everyday life.

I started thinking about a river.

Water naturally knows how to flow. But place enough rocks and obstructions in its path, and the current begins to slow and gather.

Our lives can become the same way.

Too much noise.
Too many obligations.
Too much access to us.
Too many things competing for our attention.

My biggest lesson from Japan was simple:

Take control of your time.

Schedule quiet.

Protect space away from email and noise.

Spend more time doing what genuinely fills your cup.

Pay attention to the people, environments, and experiences that make you feel more alive.

I love playing the game of life fast and hard.

But the things I want to bring into the world require a strong foundation, dedicated focus, patience, and space.

Sometimes creating more does not require adding more.

Sometimes it requires removing what interrupts the flow.

Japan reminded me to create enough space for the life I actually want to live.

What is one source of chaos or friction you’re ready to reduce?

Leave a comment below and tell me what you’re making more space for. 🇯🇵✨
