Carol Rogers spent 37 years in critical care before giving herself permission to take her career in a new direction.

Carol, a clinical nurse educator at the Norton Healthcare Center for Nursing Practice, began her nursing career at Norton Hospital in 1981. Just nine months later, she moved into the intensive care unit and cardiac care unit, where she found a professional home and stayed for nearly four decades.

Eventually, the physical and emotional demands of critical care led Carol to consider what might come next. Her longtime love of learning and interest in education opened that door. She joined what was then the Norton Healthcare Institute for Nursing, now the Center for Nursing Practice, and has spent the past seven years helping support the growth of other nurses.

Looking back, Carol is grateful for the opportunities she has found throughout her 45 years with us and for the different ways she has been able to contribute to patient care and the nursing profession.

Thank you, Carol, for 45 years of dedication, resilience and lifelong learning.

Lynn Goranflo, R.N., director of quality, clinical effectiveness and patient care at Norton Brownsboro Hospital, has spent 35 years caring for patients, leading teams and being willing to step into new challenges.

She began her career in the intensive care unit at Norton Hospital, where she spent 16 years caring for critically ill patients. In 2009, Lynn took on one of the biggest milestones of her career, helping open Norton Brownsboro Hospital as its intensive care unit nurse manager. Just two years later, she became director of critical care.

Her next move was not an easy one. Lynn knew she would miss the nursing work that had meant so much to her, but she chose to try something new. That decision led her to quality, clinical effectiveness and patient care, where she has found a new kind of fulfillment.

Across each chapter, Lynn has continued to shape care in different ways, first at the bedside, then through leadership and now through work that helps support quality across the hospital.

Thank you, Lynn, for 35 years of caring for our patients, guiding our teams and helping us grow.

May 11, 1981, is a date Beverly Robinson, R.N., at Norton Hospital, still remembers clearly. It was the beginning of a career that would span more than four decades and take her through many different areas of patient care.

Beverly started as a float nurse aide while working toward her nursing degree. After becoming a registered nurse, she continued to grow into new roles, caring for patients in medical/surgical care, postanesthesia care, psychiatric care, endocrinology, preoperative care and radiology.

Each move brought a new chapter. One change, into psychiatric care, also gave Beverly the flexibility she needed to get her son to school, a reminder of how closely work and life can intertwine over a long career.

This summer, Beverly retired after 45 years of service. Across every role and every transition, she built a career defined by adaptability, commitment and care for others.

Thank you, Beverly, for 45 years of dedication to our patients and colleagues. Congratulations on your retirement and the start of this well earned next chapter.
