Welcome to November!

Samhain marks a turning of the seasonal wheel — a time of endings, beginnings, remembrance, and reflection.

And apparently, also a time when we collectively agree to change the clocks and then spend the next week wondering why we’re hungry at the wrong hour.

The days grow shorter, the evenings arrive suspiciously early, and nature reminds us that slowing down is part of the cycle.

So here’s to warm drinks, quieter evenings, a little introspection, and remembering that rest is not a productivity failure.

And if the ancestors are still hanging around, perhaps they could help with the laundry.

Happy November. May your tea stay warm and your internal clock eventually figure itself out.

Tonight, there are many ways to honour it. 🎃🕯️🍂

Some will dress up, hand out candy, and watch scary movies.
Some will light candles, remember their ancestors, and sit quietly with what has passed.
Some will do both.

Because joy and remembrance can live side by side.

Costumes and connection.
Chocolate bars and candlelight.
Play and reflection.

It’s all part of the same turning of the wheel.

However you choose to spend this night, may it be filled with a little magic, a little meaning, and maybe (definitely) a few treats.

Happy Halloween to the ghosts, goblins, witches and wild things.
Blessed Samhain to those honouring the season, their ancestors, and the cycles of life, death and renewal.

I don’t know how they know.

But they know.

Put ten people in a room with a cat and somehow the cat will locate the one person whose immune system has specifically requested that it maintain a respectful distance.

And then?

Straight into the lap.

Every. Single. Time.

The problem is that cats are also ridiculously cute, so apparently my survival instincts have limits.

“Look at your little face—”

ACHOO.

Worth it.

Happy National Cat Day to all the tiny furry creatures with absolutely no respect for antihistamines.

Happy National Pumpkin Day!

Today’s client arrived looking a little distressed.

After a thorough intake, we identified some tension around the stem and a few areas requiring attention.

Pressure was carefully monitored. After all, there’s a fine line between therapeutic massage and pumpkin purée.

Thankfully, the treatment was a success, and the client left with a much happier expression. 😊

I thought that was the end of my pumpkin-related responsibilities for the day.

Apparently, word travels fast in the pumpkin patch.

Three more clients were waiting outside.

I suppose I’ll be adding pumpkin massage to my list of specialties.

No pumpkins were harmed or turned to mush during treatment. 🎃😂

Every October, the veil gets thin.
Or the Seasonal Archives Department begins its annual audit.

Depends who you ask.

There is something about this time of year that can make the past feel a little closer.

A smell brings back a place you haven’t thought about in years.
An old tradition makes you think of someone who isn’t here anymore.
A memory appears seemingly out of nowhere.
A dream leaves you thinking about someone all day.

For some traditions, including Samhain, this time of year has long been associated with the boundary between worlds becoming thinner — a time for remembering and honouring those who came before us.

You might experience that spiritually.

You might understand it through memory, seasonal cues and reflection.

Or perhaps your Seasonal Archives Department has simply pulled a file you weren’t expecting.

Willow and Ashley will continue disagreeing about the terminology.

They’re probably talking about the same thing. 🌙🍂

Great Scott! ⚡

We’ve learned a few things since 1985.

Wellness advice has always had a habit of sounding very certain.

Don’t eat this.
Definitely eat that.
Push harder.
Weigh less.
Sleep when you’re dead.
No pain, no gain.

And then… we learn more.

Bodies are complicated. Research evolves. Context matters. And something that works beautifully for one person may be completely wrong for another.

The best part?

We’re still learning.

Some of the things we confidently believe about health in 2026 will probably have people in the future looking back at us thinking:

“They thought WHAT?” 😂

That’s how learning works.

So maybe good wellness isn’t about finding the perfect set of rules.

Maybe it’s staying curious, paying attention to your own body, and being willing to change what you think you know when better information comes along.

Although I remain reasonably confident that leg warmers deserve a comeback. ⚡🕺

Apparently, someone forgot to tell the rest of the body that menopause was supposed to be just about periods. 😂

Changing hormones can show up in all sorts of places — sleep, temperature regulation, concentration and memory, joints and muscles, bladder and vaginal health, mood, energy… and sometimes things you never would have thought to connect with menopause at all.

Which can make this stage especially confusing.

You may find yourself thinking:

Wait. THAT can be menopause too?

Yep. Sometimes.

And that’s one of the reasons conversations like this matter.

Menopause isn’t one symptom, one experience or one neat little transition happening quietly in the reproductive system.

It can be a whole-body conversation.

Even if Brain has temporarily lost the agenda.

Happy World Menopause Day.
