“I got E. coli when I was 7 years old, which led to stage 3 kidney failure. I then had to be on dialysis for a few months.

My kidneys began to function enough to work on their own. My kidneys were still functioning at the same level for 8 years, then my family and doctors agreed we should start the process to get on the transplant waitlist.

I did my evaluation and was active on the list for 6 days when they found a perfect match with a deceased donor. I could not be more thankful for the fact that I only had to wait 6 days. I am now 15 years old. I am doing amazing 2 months post-transplant and can’t thank God enough!!” - Lyla, kidney recipient
