November is Fall Prevention Month in Canada, an annual campaign to raise awareness, reduce fall risks for older adults (65+) and children, and promote community safety initiatives.

Ottawa Public Health's free "Prevention of Falls in Older Adults" online module is for anyone concerned about older adults who would like to learn more about falls and how to prevent them. It takes about 20 minutes, and you can go at your own pace.

November is CPR Month.

Did you know you can take action to help save a life?

A cardiac arrest can happen to anyone, anywhere, at any age. It’s when the heart suddenly and unexpectedly stops beating. It’s a medical emergency that requires immediate action.

CPR and using an AED can double a person's chance of survival. This CPR Month, learn the three simple steps that could help save a life:
- Call 9-1-1 and shout for an AED.
- Start CPR right away.
- Use an AED as soon as one is available.

Today is World Stroke Day and the World Stroke Campaign is focused on reminding everyone that when it comes to stroke, EVERY M1NUTE COUNTS.

If you see the signs of stroke, act FAST:
- Face: Is it drooping?
- Arms: Can you raise both?
- Speech: Is it slurred or jumbled?
- Time: Call 9-1-1 right away.

Stroke is a medical emergency. Do not drive to the hospital. Paramedics will get you to the hospital that provides the urgent stroke care you need.

The Legion’s 2026 National Poppy Campaign is launching on October 24! And volunteers across the country are ramping up their efforts.

What can be expected for the 2026 Poppy Campaign? Traditional Poppy boxes will be available at thousands of locations around the country, as well at tap-enabled donation options. Canadians will also be able to donate online, as well as get their Poppies delivered directly to them via Amazon.
